Aphra
* Aphra found her forever home with a lovely person! *
We rescued Lana Del Rey from Hamilton Animal Control where she had found herself as a stray. Lana was pregnant when she was rescued, and she gave birth to six beautiful little kittens on March 18th, 2014. Their names are Asta, Aphra, Orson, Ziggy, Zora and Zelda. They all grew up healthy and strong with the help of their foster home.
Aphra is a total purring machine, from the moment you start petting her! Such a lovely kitten inside and out. She found her forever home with a wonderful person and other cats to be friends with, and we’re so happy for her!
June 2021 – Aphra (now Lucy) was our Forever Home Friday feature!
Recently, Lucy moved half way across the world with her adopter and her cat friends, and they now call London, England home. So cool!
Here’s a note from Lucy’s adopter:
“Lucy (Lucy fur when misbehaving) is an enormous personality in a tiny cat body. Since she was a kitten she’s had exactly two modes: ON A MISSION and crashed toddler. She’ll wake up and immediately start growl-meowing, marching around the place and greeting everyone like a one-cat parade (I’M BACK DID YOU MISS ME). She loves to cuddle. If I’m working, she hops up on my laptop and shoves her nose as close to my face as possible, purring. If I’m busy and moving around she stands up on her back legs, reaches out, and literally grabs my attention with a front paw. (If she’s on one of her secret cat missions, though, no one had better try and distract her with pets!)
She loves the other cats. She and Cynthia are bffs. When Cynthia comes into the room Lucy dashes off to greet her, touching noses and locking foreheads. When Cynthia is eating, Lucy runs over to have a snack beside her. Lady Jane has been slightly more wary of Lucy, owing to their completely opposite philosophies on personal space, but Lucy has learned to admire Janey from a slight distance and now the two can be found peacefully napping “together”, a foot apart.
Since we moved to London, Lucy has developed a passion for train watching out our window! And even though they now live half a world apart, we send (possibly too many!) updates to Lucy’ former foster mom, her twin sister, and her Cat Mom (Marge!!❤) whose enormous owl eyes Lucy has inherited. I can’t imagine life without her and am so grateful to Ladybird for bringing her into my life!”
