Marley
We rescued Marley from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Marley had been severely neglected before being brought to HAC. He was so matted that he couldn’t move his body properly. His fur was literally dreadlocked all over his body. Marley’s teeth were so rotten that his tongue stuck out most of the time and he drooled. One look into his mouth and it was obvious he was in a lot of pain. Poor guy!
When Marley first came into HAC, the staff there did a partial shave down to make him feel a bit more comfortable while he waited out his stray time, and he was put on some medication to help with infection and pain in his mouth. No owner stepped forward to claim Marley, so we were very happy to get him out of the shelter and straight to the vet to start him on the road to feeling better.
At the vet, blood work came back negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia (thank goodness!) but it showed that his insides were trying to fight off some serious infections. Marley had to wait a little while before he could have his dental surgery because of his poor body condition and the infection. When he had his surgery, all of Marley’s teeth were removed because they were in such bad shape. He recovered from his surgery really well, and his foster family helped him feel better throughout it all. After many follow up appointments, Marley is finally ready to find his forever home.
Marley is still on one inexpensive medication that may have to be long-term. He is happy to take his medication with Pill Pockets, so he is no trouble to medicate. We will have our vets discuss Marley’s health with any potential adopters to be sure they understand Marley’s previous condition and his health overall.
Through all of this, Marley has been the sweetest, most snuggly purr head cat you’ve ever met. Even when he was in severe pain and discomfort, Marley was nothing but a love bug. All he wants is to love and get love. He is going to make a lovely companion for the right home.
Marley found his forever home with a lovely family!
