Ladybird’s ultimate goal is to have a property where we can house more cats, dogs and small animals, and where we can welcome farm animals in need of rescue. Before attaining that goal, we are visiting other sanctuaries to gather as much knowledge as we can and to learn from others who are already doing what we are so looking forward to!
In September of 2015, Ladybird founders Melissa, Janine and Lisa attended the Farm Sanctuary’s Farm Animal Care Conference at the Watkins Glen, New York location. We got “hands on” learning how to start and operate a sanctuary, effective fundraising, program management, visitor programs, animal care techniques, and we learned so much more!
We were so thankful for this rare opportunity to learn from the best. And believe us, Farm Sanctuary are the best! Big thanks to Susie Coston for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us and everyone out there who is curious/questioning their dietary choices and the affects on those who suffer for it.
Please visit one of the Farm Sanctuary locations if you can. They are doing amazing things to better the lives of animals.
Farm Sanctuary operates three shelters:
– a 271-acre sanctuary in upstate New York
– a 26-acre sanctuary in Southern California
– a 300-acre sanctuary in Northern California
Melissa put together this fantastic video of our visit. Enjoy!
