Ocean
We rescued Ocean from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. Ocean is just the friendliest kitty you ever did meet! Happy feet and head bonks are her favourite things! We took Ocean straight from HAC to the vet where it was discovered that Ocean is already spayed. There was a large lump next to her spay scar which is in indication that she likely strained that area shortly after her spay surgery, but the hernia was never repaired by her previous owners. Ocean also needed most of her teeth removed as they were so decayed. It also looked like Ocean may have been suffering from a flea allergy, as she had some sparse and crusty fur in some spots.
After her dental and hernia repair surgery, it took Ocean a long time to recover from being under anesthetic. She ended up staying at the vet for a few extra days because of this, but after another few days in her foster home, she is feeling much better now.
Here’s a note from Ocean’s foster mom:
“When Ocean first came home from the vet she was very lethargic and slept all of the time. I would leave her room and she would be sitting staring at nothing and when I returned later she would still be in the same spot. It was very sad and I thought she would require a long stay here since she had had a rough time recovering from her surgery. Then all of a sudden one night it was a like a switch went off in her brain and she was a happy, playful, normal cat!
Ocean has some quirks that make her all the more adorable. She follows me around like a puppy. If I call he name she comes running. She LOVES to play with toys and watching her chase them around is the funniest thing. Ocean isn’t too sure of couches and human beds, she likes being close to the ground. We are working on this and she is slowly realizing she can relax when she is on these big, comfy surfaces. She was also not used to using stairs when she first came home. She has since realized that the food comes from downstairs, and downstairs is where the action is so Ocean has taught herself quickly how to use the stairs. Ocean seems to adapt quickly to any new situation that comes her way.
Ocean is a piggy and will eat any food in site. So if you have a cat or dog who grazes then you will need to watch this girl or she will gobble their food up.
Ocean was having what I thought was litter box issues when she came home. She was going to the washroom directly outside of her pan. It turns out that Ocean is just a bit of a princess and just requires a bigger area to use when she is going to the washroom. A large, shallow Tupperware container from Walmart was a quick and inexpensive fix. Since she has had the larger box she has not had any accidents.
This sweet girl gets along great with dogs. She is also good with cats. She has to put up with some grumpy resident cats here at her foster home and she is handling them well. She isn’t afraid, and never instigates hissing but does hiss back to stick up for herself.
Ocean is such a pretty girl who is a total sweetheart. I think she would do great in almost any home. She has been through a lot and she deserves a forever home who is going to love and spoil her.”
Ocean found her forever home with lovely people!
