Burrito
We rescued Burrito from Hamilton Animal Control. Burrito was surrendered by his owners because they were unable to handle his energetic nature. Burrito is only 10 months old, and apparently the owners who surrendered him to HAC were the second home he’s had. So many upheavals in such a short life! We had Burrito neutered and placed him into a foster home.
Burrito is such a happy boy, and so sweet! But…he needs a forever home who will be willing to work with his energy and his tendency to be protective of his “people.” It takes him some time to warm up to other dogs, and he needs a home with no cats.
Burrito has had a couple of training sessions with our friend Justine from Good Vibes Dog Training and he’s doing well. Justine has generously offered one free training session to his adopters.
Burrito’s adopters will have to be committed to continuing with professional training to keep him on track.
Burrito had a bath and groom by our friend Jenni from Roxy Dog Grooming. Though Burrito gave her some trouble at first, after a couple of long hugs and a lot of patience, Jenni was able to get out all the dirt and matting that must have been giving poor Burrito some discomfort. We’ve surmised that this was likely Burrito’s first grooming, which is why he was so frightened by what was going on. Jenni did a wonderful job, and she would love to continue to work with Burrito for his future grooming since he will be more comfortable in a familiar place with a familiar person doing his groom.
Burrito’s foster home has a four year old and teenage children and he is wonderful with both. He appreciates the attention he gets from them, and his foster mom appreciated the energy Burrito burns off when they play.
Here’s a note from Burrito’s foster mom:
“Burrito is a very sweet and happy dog with his foster family. He loves to play with toys and flies around the yard having fun. He is young, healthy, and strong and can jump, catch and do some tricks. He will need a house with a yard to play in, and at least two walks a day for exercise.
Burrito loves to cuddle on the couch with his people, but he can also sleep quietly on his own in another room. He does ask for affection at times, but he doesn’t insist on always being on a person’s lap, and knows how to give a person some space. He is trained to do his business outside. He still needs training when walking on a leash, but he is getting better and is learning to be calm when passing other people and dogs.
Burrito will need to be adopted by someone with a strong hand at training a dog because he is young, so needs further training. He is a good watch dog, always letting you know if someone is on the porch. He is not good with cats (likes to chase them like squirrels!), so he should be adopted into a home without cats.”
Burrito found his forever home with lovely people!
