Marshmallow
We rescued Marshmallow from Hamilton Animal Control. Marshmallow was found on the streets by a concerned citizen who noticed that she had an injured and swollen front leg. Hamilton Animal Control picked Marshmallow up and took her to the vet. The vet could not find a any reason for her leg to be lame. There was no open wound or broken bones, so she was put on pain medication, an antibiotic and sent to HAC to wait out her stray time. Turns out, Marshmallow was microchipped. Her owner was contacted and they assured HAC staff that they were coming to claim Marshmallow. But despite many follow up phone calls by HAC staff, and being given ample time to come claim her, Marshmallow’s owners never showed up.
By this time, the medications had done their job and Marshmallow’s leg was much better. We were happy to get Marshmallow out of the shelter and we took her straight to our vet for a check-up. Sometimes, white cats with two different coloured eyes are deaf, but Marshmallow certainly is not. She will have a conversation with you if you talk to her!
It seems that Marshmallow may have spent the winter outdoors since her fur is not in very good shape and the pads of her feet are very rough, dry and flaky. She’s been given a good quality food, and lots of brushing and love in her foster home. Now she’s good as new and ready to find her forever home!
Here’s a note from Marshmallow’s foster home:
“I’ve dropped the marsh and replaced the a with an e and am calling her Mellow….she’s so chill. Slowly introducing her to my cats since she first came, it’s going okay now, a little slow in the beginning.
She’s vocal if she’s hungry, wants love, and if you are giving her love and stop before she wants you to. She’s an expert lounger, in the window, on top of my dresser, on me, and of course the bed…. I mean, who needs 2 x 2 ft couch cushions in the closet when she can sprawl out on a big ole mattress. She’s a super sweet purr(er) and seems to need to knead…she loves it, giving her kitty massages. And best of all, for some, she has absolutely no problem splaying herself across a human chest, or what seems to be her fave,….a persons ribs and obliques when he/she is laying down on his/her side. She happily jumps up, balances herself, stretches out, back paws towards your hips and front paws gingerly placed near or on your chin.”
Marshmallow found her forever home with lovely people!
