Leave the Gift of Enduring Animal Advocacy
By leaving a gift in your will to Ladybird Animal Sanctuary, you allow Ladybird to save the lives of animals who are in need; both in our local community and beyond. Your gift will give us the opportunity to continue to educate about responsible pet ownership and respect for animals, resulting in a brighter future for all animals.
How Your Gift Benefits Animals
Leaving a Legacy Gift to Ladybird is the highest honour our organization could receive. This means that you’ve put your faith in Ladybird to continue to do the meaningful work that we’ve set out to do.
Your funds will be used towards helping Ladybird rescue animals who are in most need by directly covering the cost of their care, including:
- Veterinarian appointments
- Medical procedures including dental cleanings and extractions, surgeries, spays and neuters, vaccinations, blood work, x-rays, special testing, etc.
- Medication
- Pet food and supplies
Ladybird rescues domestic animals from high-kill shelters in Southern Ontario and Quebec. To date we have rescued close to 800 animals including cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, chinchillas, mice, rats, gerbils, hamsters, birds, reptiles, fish, one chicken, and a pot bellied pig.
Specify Your Gift’s Purpose
At this time, Ladybird Animal Sanctuary is a thriving foster network, but our ultimate goal is to some day acquire a physical rural location that will act as a forever safe haven for domestic and farm animals. The facility will be a community gathering space from which we run fundraising events, adoption, volunteer, and educational programs. You may wish to dedicate your funds to this tremendous project. Or, you may have something specific in mind. If you have a Ladybird endeavour that you would like to dedicate your gift to, we welcome you to indicate this in your final wishes. Here are some examples of how you may wish to devote your funds:
- Acquisition of a physical sanctuary
- The Gilbert Fund – a specific fund that benefits animals with special medical conditions
- Educational and outreach programs
- Ladybird permanent resident support

Ways to Leave a Legacy Gift
Your Will
Leaving a legacy gift to Ladybird in your will is easier than you might think. It is important to include Ladybird’s full legal name (Ladybird Animal Sanctuary) and our current mailing address. It is also helpful to include our charitable registration number (815911318RR0001). Here are two examples for appropriate wording below:
When making a residual bequest: “I give to Ladybird Animal Sanctuary (Charitable Registration Number: 815911318RR0001) – currently of P.O. Box 80005 RPO Concession, Hamilton ON, L9A 0A6, all (or —%) of the residual of my estate, to be used at the discretion of the organization.”
When making a specific bequest: “I give to Ladybird Animal Sanctuary (Charitable Registration Number: 815911318RR0001) – currently of P.O. Box 80005 RPO Concession, Hamilton, Ontario, L9A 0A6, the sum of $— to be used at the discretion of the organization.”
