Sadie
* Sadie found her forever home with lovely people! *
Sadie was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control by her owners because they were temporarily moving out of the country.
Sadie’s owners told HAC staff that they had never taken Sadie to the vet, so the first thing we did was have her spayed and vaccinated. Sadie healed very well from her surgery and we were hoping to make her available for adoption shortly after, but she wasn’t being very nice to her foster people so we gave her some time. Turns out, a lot of Sadie’s issues were with the other cats in the foster home, so we transferred her to a quiet foster home where there are no other pets. Sadie has come a long way since her rescue, and thanks to a ton of patience from both her foster families, she’s finally ready to find her forever home.
Here’s a note from Sadie’s foster mom:
“When Sadie first arrived, we got off to a shaky start. She wasn’t very happy and made herself scarce. When I tried to get near, she hissed and growled to let me know she was not interested. I managed to get a couple of pets in that she really seemed to enjoy so I knew there was reason to be hopeful. She needed time and I needed to be patient.
It has been a slow process but we have made incredible progress. She now follows me around the house and has even started jumping up on the couch to be petted. She doesn’t stay long but she sure enjoys the time we share. She lies on the floor, on her back with her belly showing – a sure sign of feeling comfortable in her environment. Today, she was chasing a wee ball around and has become more playful. She has come so far and she continues to reveal more of her social side.
I don’t think Ms. Sadie will ever be a real snuggler but she will be a constant companion, a loyal and steady friend to whoever shows her love. She will purr, give head bonks, thoroughly enjoy your attention and then she’ll be off to one of her favourite places to have a nap!”
Despite how far she has come, Sadie would do best in a home where there are no other pets, and no children.
Please adopt Sadie!
