Gidget
* Gidget found her forever home with lovely people! *
Gidget ended up at Hamilton Animal Services when she was found outside alone. Little Gidget has a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia, which makes her very wobbly on her feet.
She was a hissy kitten when she arrived (which is hilarious because she’s so wee), but she warmed up pretty quickly for cuddles. Gidget is doing great in her foster home, and now she’s ready to find her forever home!
Here’s a note from Gidget:
“Oh Hello There Human,
My name is Gidget and I am a 3 month old female tortoiseshell kitty. I am a very special girl, or so my foster mom keeps telling people. I have a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia – this makes me different from other kitties. My movements are jerky, I have trouble walking in a straight line and my head shakes when I am excited or concentrating on something ( like a toy before I pounce on it!) As my foster mom always tells people…I give new meaning to things that go bump in the night! Don’t worry this condition does not really slow me down, I still play, explore and climb on the couch ( I do use my claws because I can’t actually jump). I love playing with my foster brothers and sisters too. They treat me just like any other kitty!
My condition will not get any better but it will also not get any worse. It would be best if I could live in an apartment or one floor of a house. Stairs are tricky for me as I don’t have enough control over my muscles to maneuver them. I do make it the the litter box but sometimes I fall over in it. I will need a low litter box (2″ high) or high sided one with a cut out in the side ( you can talk to my foster mom about this).
I am a super playful kitty who loves to watch the world go by and pounce on things that move! I have a very loud purr and a cute little meow! I am looking for a special person to love me for my whole life. You need to have a big heart…not because I have a disability but because I have so much to give you are going to need a place to put it!
Looking forward to meeting you
Gidget”
Gidget’s name is now Ginny, and you can follow all her wobbly adventures on Instagram! @ginny_cat_
Ginny was our Forever Home Friday feature in July 2021
“Ginny has so much personality for such a little cat! She loves all of her daily routines and makes sure to remind you if you’re running a little behind. She will ‘wobble march’ around and yell for attention when she gets lonely, and she loves that we work from home now. Ginny is a great big sister to her baby brother. One of Ginny’s favourite things is when we build her a ‘fort’ with blankets on the couch. Ginny’s wobbles definitely don’t get in the way of snuggling and playing. We love her so much!“
