Boyd
* Boyd found his forever home with lovely people! *
We rescued Liona and Boyd from Hamilton Animal Services. They came in together as strays. We’re not sure if they were abandoned by their owner, or if they truly did wander away from home, but nobody came forward looking for them. When they got to HAS, both cats were covered in fleas, and Boyd’s fur was extremely matted. Shelter staff shaved Boyd down to make him more comfortable. When staff checked his blood levels, they discovered Boyd was diabetic, so they started him on insulin.
After being in their foster home for a few months, Boyd is now in diabetic remission. He’ll need to stay on a specific diet, and have his blood levels tested often to be sure he’s still not in need of insulin, but he’s been injection free for long enough that we are hopeful he won’t relapse.
Liona and Boyd both had dental surgery to take care of some rotten teeth, and they healed up perfectly!
Liona and Boyd didn’t spend a heck of a lot of time together, and Boyd often picked on Liona to the point where they had to be separated, so their foster family let us know they would be fine to be adopted separately. Liona ended up finding her forever home, and Boyd is hoping his new home will come along soon.
Here’s a note from Boyd’s foster home:
“Boyd is happy that his foster sister Liona has been adopted because he now gets the humans, and the food, all to himself. This mini lion look-alike has a majestic personality to match. If he feels it’s time for more wet food, he will look pointedly at his peeps and bang his food bowl insistently. He’s not a young cat but you would never guess that, seeing him dart around exploring and chasing tin foil balls. His absolute favorite is long, luxurious chin scratches. He loves all people and has no issue being picked up for a cuddle. He was a bit of a bossy pants with his foster sister but did like to play so he would likely be just as fine with other animals around, as he would having his humans all to himself. Boyd is one of the most beautiful and interesting cats we’ve ever had the pleasure of fostering.”
