Tucker
* Lucky Tucker has been adopted by his foster home, and his new name is Lewis! Yay! *
Tucker was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services by his owner when they were no longer able to care for him.
At 13 years old, a shelter was certainly no place for such a sweet dog. We got Tucker out of the shelter and took him straight to the vet, as he has quite a number of issues.
Tucker is now on antibiotics for an ear infection. There is thickening of his ears that our vets advised is likely due to a hematoma that was never treated. Blood was taken and we’ll have results soon. Tucker’s skin is very hot, inflamed, and he’s missing fur on his back end, likely all due to flea allergy. (Tucker was covered in fleas when he was surrendered.)
Tucker will need a dental cleaning. He is a little underweight (but still weighed in at 80lbs!). He has muscle wasting in his back end (age related) and some arthritis there. Medication may be needed for that, but we need to wait for the blood results before making that decision. He also has a cyst behind his right ear but our vets don’t think it is anything to worry about at this time.
Tucker is getting comfortable in his foster home now, and foster mom reports that he’s as sweet as pie.
Tucker has a follow-up vet appointment soon, and we’ll have another update for you then.
Welcome Tucker! We’re so glad you’re here!
