Rosie
* Rosie found her forever home with amazing people! *
Rosie ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray.
She is such a lovely dog. Sweet and cuddly, and always has a happy tail going.
We had Rosie spayed, had her teeth cleaned, and she was treated for an ear infection, and for her tail where the end had split. After some healing in her foster home, she’s ready to find her forever home!
Here’s a note from her foster home:
“Rosie is possibly one of the most loving dogs you will ever meet. She is sweet and gentle, but also has a playful and cheeky side to her. She is very intelligent, and has been leaning a few commands quite quickly. She’ll do very well with continued training in an obedience class. When she arrived from the shelter, she was a bit nervous- she may have been abandoned at some point, and doesn’t terribly like being left home alone. She’s learning to be ok with it, and we’ve been treating her separation anxiety with training, medication, and lots of love. She is so much better than when she first arrived, but has a little further to go. She may still occasionally have accidents if she’s left alone too long. She would do well with a routine and lots of structure in her life.
Rosie loves spending time cuddling and playing with her feline brother, and adores going on long walks and runs. She has met quite a few dogs out on walks and at the park, and would do well with another canine companion or on her own. Meeting new people is always a big excitement, and we’ve been working on not jumping up when someone new comes in the door or says hello to her on the trail. She has so much love to give, and has a hard time holding it in!
She spends lots of time playing with her ball and her soft toys, and even when she’s feeling a bit rambunctious, she is always careful of people around and very gentle with her mouth. Snuggling in the evenings is her favourite pass time; she thinks that she is a lap dog and will definitely try to spend her time there. She is definitely a couch dog, and must be told clearly when she arrives if she isn’t allowed on the furniture. She likes spending time in her dog bed and especially snuggling with humans when she wakes up in the morning.
Rosie should be with a forever home willing to help her overcome her separation anxiety and continue working with her obedience. Although we don’t know much about what she’s been through, Rosie is an exceptional dog, and will be a joy to have for any home.”
January 2020 – Update from Rosie’s adopter!
“Hi Ladybird!
Just wanted to send you a brief update about our sweet Rosie since we’ve now had her for a year! Thank you so much for bringing Rosie into our lives – she is wonderful. Rosie has been thriving – she has almost completely overcome her separation anxiety, and now naps the vast majority of the time she is flying solo. She’s a very happy dog who loves playing tug-of-war, shadowing us in the kitchen, and lounging on the couch comfortably wedged between a human and the couch cushions. She has also proven to be a great running companion! I now start most of my mornings being nudged awake promptly at 7 am by her little nose, and can’t imagine it any other way.
Thanks again,
Sydney”
