After being in our care for more than a year, we made Chianti a Ladybird Permanent Resident because of ongoing issues with his health. He continued to get the frequent veterinary care he required until he passed away peacefully in his sleep a few months later.
Thank you to Cathryn and the staff at Dundas Pet Valu for looking after Chianti, and for giving him the best life any hamster could have asked for.

Chianti and eight other hamsters (a mom, dad and six other babies) were surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services by their owner because they had “too many.”

Although Chianti is very cute, he’s not a fan of being handled. His foster home is working on getting him more comfortable with it, but in typical dwarf hamster fashion, he’ll likely always be a little mean. For this reason, Chianti wouldn’t be the best pet for a home with small children.

Chianti had a check-up at the vet and he received a clean bill of health. He’s now ready to find his forever home!
