Wallace
* Wallace found his forever home with amazing people! *
Wallace came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. He was suffering from a very serious case of entropion. This is a condition in which a portion of the eyelid is inverted or folded inward against the eyeball. This is a painful condition, and poor Wallace had it quite badly in both eyes. HAS staff started him on eye medication, and they reached out to us to help once his stray time was done. We reached out to Dr. Strong, who specializes in eye conditions, and he was kind enough to stop by HAS to take a quick look at Wallace, give us his opinion, and book him for surgery at a colleague’s clinic in Toronto. One of our awesome volunteers picked Wallace up and delivered him to Beaches Fallingbrook Vet Clinic in Toronto, and Wallace had his surgery the next day. Wallace did great for the surgery, but a few days later, his foster mom noticed that his one eye was staying closed. So…back to the vet for a second surgery. Seeing as how this was the worst case of entropion that both Dr. Strong and the vets at Beaches Fallingbrook have ever seen, it was no surprise that Wallace needed a second surgery.
Wallace got through the second surgery like a champ, and he recovered well in his foster home. At his follow up appointment, Dr. Strong gave him the all clear, and now he’s ready to start the search for his forever home!
Here’s a note from Wallace’s foster home:
“Wallace is a super sweet, gentle guy. He likes laps, on his own time, but once he has decided to settle on you he will stay for a while, making biscuits and purring. He gets along well with our two cats, one female, one male, and has learned to tolerate our very large dog, although they got off to a rocky start. I think he would prefer to live in a dog free house, but he is social and enjoys the company of the other cats.
Wallace loves shoes; playing with shoe laces, batting shoes around, using shoes as pillows, he loves shoes. He loves sitting in a window to watch the squirrels and birds. He is very easy going, a lovely cat and will make someone the perfect companion.”
Thank you HAS staff, Dr. Strong, Julian our volunteer, Dr. Matt at Beaches Fallingbrook vet, and Wallace’s foster family for all coming together to get this sweet cat the help he needed that got him ready to find his forever home!
