Benedict
* Benedict found his forever home with amazing people! *
Benedict came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. He had a severe ear mite infestation, he was covered in fleas, and he had a very large wound on the side of his face. Animal Services staff sent Benedict directly to the vet for treatment for the wound, and he was then returned to the shelter to wait out his stray time. HAS staff took great care of Benedict while he was with them, and his wounds started to heal up nicely. Nobody came forward to claim Benedict, and we were happy to spring him from the shelter when a foster home opened up.
It’s clear that this sweet cat has had a rough go before ending up at the shelter, but he’s such a lovely boy. Lots of head bonks and purrs for everyone he meets.
We got Benedict into the vet for a check-up on his rescue day, and other than still having some itchy ears from the mite remnants, he was in pretty good health! He was sent to his foster home with some medication for his ears, and he did great at his follow up appointment. He got the thumbs up from the vet that he’s ready to find his forever home!
Here’s a report from his foster home:
“Benedict has his scars from his time on the street, but the good life in a foster home has turned him into a handsome boy.
He slept his first night behind the toilet and his second night under the cabinet, but warmed up quickly. After some forced cuddles, he became a certified snuggler. He will jump up and knead and then settle in for a nice nap, even if you had somewhere you needed to be.
He is still a bit food insecure and will yell at you until he gets fed. He would also eat continuously, so this is something that his new family will have to monitor. He has a “what’s up” head bob that he uses to get food faster.
Benny will yell at you if you dare to close the bathroom door and when you leave the bathroom he will be sitting there waiting for you.
He loves brushes, belly rubs (and scratches in general), and has random bursts of chasing his mouse all over the place until he loses it in a corner somewhere. He also has a strange fascination with pens.
He doesn’t like dogs, and he hasn’t been around other cats, so unsure if he likes them.
Benedict is a sweet boy and he will make a wonderful companion for someone.”
