Brody
* Brody found his forever home with an awesome person! *
Brody came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was never claimed. Other than being a bit overweight, Brody seems in good health. He is a sweet guy, but he has a strange characteristic….He gets very snappy, but he doesn’t bite. He snaps when he’s happy/excited too, so it seems like a bad habit that nobody bothered to correct. It probably helps him get his way when people are afraid that he’ll bite them. Thankfully, the staff at Hamilton Animal Services could see beyond this “quirk” and gave him a chance by reaching out to us to rescue him.
Brody settled in at his foster home, and although he was initially quite stressed with all the changes going on, he was always friendly. He just wants belly rubs and to give kisses.
He received a clean bill of health at his vet visit, and he’s now ready to find his forever home!
Here’s a note from his foster home:
“Brody is a charming, fluffy, chubby Pomeranian mix who is beyond cute with his little wizard beard and his underbite! He loves food, belly rubs, and giving kisses. He’s excellent at walking on a leash, even if he sometimes gets distracted by the birds! Although he is still young, he’s pretty low energy and happily naps for most of the day. Despite having plenty of toys to play with, Brody’s favourite is an empty toilet paper roll…go figure!
Brody is a wonderfully loyal companion but he can be a little growly and snappy when he’s feeling stressed or overstimulated, so he’s looking for an adult-only home with adopter(s) who can recognize when he’s reached his limit and needs to take a break in his crate. Attending an obedience class with Brody would also be beneficial and fun! He responds very well to positive reinforcement and having clear and firm boundaries in terms of what is acceptable behaviour. Brody really is super smart and aims to please, but he can also be bossy and will growl and snap at the air in an attempt to get his way. He would be fine as an only pet and doesn’t seem super interested in playing with other dogs, but he also doesn’t mind having a canine sibling.
Overall, Brody is 95% sweet and 5% salty…but he’s only getting sweeter by the day as he learns the household rules. I have no doubt that he will make a lucky (and patient) adopter very happy!”
