Floyd Meoweather
* Floyd Meoweather found his forever home with his foster family! Yay! *
Floyd Meoweather came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. He was not neutered, had some open wounds, and his one ear is crinkled. He was sweet and friendly with all the staff at the shelter though. A lovely boy!
A SNAP test determined that Floyd is FIV positive. Not great news, but certainly not the end of the world!
When nobody came forward to claim Floyd, we rescued him from HAS and got him straight to the vet. Dr. Stubbs at Spencer Creek Animal Hospital gave Floyd a check-up and neutered him. While he was under anesthetic, Dr. Stubbs took a closer look at Floyd’s ear and saw that there were no mites, and the crinkle was likely from an old hematoma. The crinkle will not cause him any issues long term.
Because of the FIV positive test, we decided to do a more comprehensive blood test to be sure there were no underlying issues with Floyd’s health. We’re just waiting for those test to come back, and hopefully all will be well.
Floyd is now settling in at his foster home and charming everyone he meets! Such a sweet guy.
Welcome to Ladybird Floyd! We’re so happy you’re here!
Update November 2019
Floyd Meoweather has been doing great in his foster home. He did have some anemia, and issues with scavenging and stealing food when he first arrived, but he’s doing much better now!
He has another vet appointment coming up to be sure all is well with his health, and hopefully he’ll be ready to find his forever home then.
Here’s a note from Floyd’s foster family:
“Floyd is really a sweet heart. Still very food driven but starting to play more and cuddle. He chases his tail regularly which is hilarious. He plays with my cat, Big, and has started to let Big groom him a bit. Floyd is still a bit weary of my dog, Gypsy, and vice versa but I do catch them sleeping closer and closer each week. Floyd has never showed any interest in our guinea pig, Bumble. He is a busy body and needs to be kept entertained. As long as his toys are out for him, he’s good. If he gets bored, he is still jumping on counters and tables to find his own fun. Floyd is very smart and can open closed doors. Thankfully, he no longer needs to be kept separate from the other animals, but don’t expect privacy in the bathroom unless you lock the door. Haha.”
