Zack
* Zack found his forever home with awesome people! Yippee! *
Xena and Zack (and several other rats) ended up at Lincoln County Humane Society when their owner passed away. We were happy to get them out of the shelter when a foster home opened up.
We had Zack neutered at Spencer Creek Animal Hospital (thank you Dr. Stubbs!) and he was given a clean bill of health, despite missing an eye. Nobody will ever know what happened to his eye, but it doesn’t cause him any pain and doesn’t require any treatment at this time. After he had healed from his neuter surgery, Zack developed an abscess in his abdominal area that had to be closed up by surgery (thank you again Dr. Stubbs!). He healed up perfectly, and now Zack is ready to find his forever home!
Zack is a sweet naked guy. He does get a bit tense when you try pick him up, but if you scoop him up very gently, he doesn’t mind as much. Once you have him, he’ll crawl all over you and sit in your lap and have a wash. So cute! He’s a very gentle boy.
Because hairless rats can get cold easily, Zack’s foster home have provided him with fleece cuddle sacks (normally used by guinea pigs). He loves to cuddle up and sleep in them. Other than being warm and snuggly in his fleece, time out of his cage to run and explore is the best part of Zack’s day. He’ll need a forever home where he can have lots of play time.
Zack likes a variety of snacks, including banana, broccoli, Cheerios and crackers.
Hairless rats require a little more care than their furred relatives. Check out this website for details.
Please adopt Zack!

Ladybird recommends Critter Nation cages. They are hands down the most spacious, and best quality enclosure for small animals on the market. They come in single and double sizes, and can be modified and customized to create enrichment and provide comfort. Their design and solid manufacturing almost entirely eliminates the possibility of accidental escape. Critter Nation cages are available (or can be ordered) at most local pet supply stores.
