Henrietta
* Humphrey and Henrietta found their forever home together with amazing people! Woo hoo! *
Henrietta arrived at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. A couple of weeks later, Humphrey was brought into Hamilton Animal Services after his owners abandoned him when they moved. Both rabbits spent a short time at HAS, and we were happy to get them out of the shelter when a foster home opened up. We had Humphrey and Henrietta fixed on their rescue day, and their foster mom put them in pens right next to each other in hopes they could eventually be bonded. We’ll let Humphrey and Henrietta’s foster mom take the story from here…
“Humphrey and Henrietta originally came into my home as two separate bunnies who had never laid eyes on each other. The plan was to try and slowly bond them so they could hopefully be adopted together. I started them off in separate pens and had a long plan to slowly introduce them.
But wow was I ever taken by surprise! Within the first week every morning I woke up I found Henrietta had jumped into Humphrey’s pen! It seemed she just couldn’t wait another minute to meet little Humphrey! It was love at first sight for these two!
Since then, the two of them have been inseparable. They do absolutely everything together from laying in front of the window sunbathing, to cuddling up in bed together, sharing all their food, and running through and chasing each other in their favourite tunnel toy.
Humphrey is just about the most loving bun I’ve encountered. He will let you pet him for hours, brush him, pick him up and carry him around the house even on your shoulder. He is just the absolute sweetest gentlest bun. Humphrey’s favourite food are pellets and dandelion leaves!
Henrietta is also very sweet but a little more timid. She appreciates being walked up to slowly and enjoys slow gentle head pets. And if you lay down next to her she will hop all over you nudging against you. Henrietta loves any and all food! But she is the absolute craziest over apple slices! If she sees you have them in your hand she will binky across the whole room excited until you give her one! Oh and did I mention she has the cutest little white poof of a tail!
These two sweet bunnies are quite the adventurers. So much so that they kept hopping out of their pens so I decided to give them their very own big bedroom. After they had their litter box training almost down I decided to let them explore more of the home together. I couldn’t believe how well behaved these two buns were in the rest of the home. Humphrey and Henrietta are now pen free in half of the house at all times!!
These two really are the sweetest most well behaved rabbits! Anyone would be lucky to have them as an addition to the family!”

Our fostered rabbits are housed in x-pens or similar enclosures so they have lots of room to move around when they aren’t out for floor time. Some of our rabbits are free range in their foster home.
Commercially made pet store rabbit cages are far too small to allow rabbits to stretch out and move around with ease.
Here are some great websites and photos outlining alternative rabbit housing using x pens and similar enclosures.
