Benson
* Benson found his forever home with lovely people! Woo hoo! *
Benson was abandoned in a box on a residential street in Hamilton. Thankfully, a local resident found the box with Benson inside and called Hamilton Animal Services. Benson’s “stray time” came and went, but nobody came forward to claim him, so we were happy to spring Benson out of the shelter.
On his rescue day, Benson went to see Dr. Stubbs at Spencer Creek Animal Hospital, and he was given a clean bill of health. We’re glad he didn’t have any detrimental health issues caused by his abandonment. Benson is really, really cute, and quite friendly. How someone could abandon him in such a way will always be a mystery to us.
While in foster care, we had Benson neutered, and we bonded him to another rabbit named Bluebell. Bluebell and Benson were great friends for the time they were together, but sadly, Bluebell passed away suddenly of unknown causes. Benson was sad to lose his friend, but he bounced back after a few weeks. We know Benson enjoys the company of other rabbits, so we are asking that he be adopted to a home where there is another bunny for him to be friends with.
To add to Benson’s saga, he was adopted to a home with another rabbit. Despite months of proper introductions and bonding sessions, that rabbit would not accept Benson as a friend and she was becoming increasingly aggressive towards him. It got to the point that the family was fearing for Benson’s safety, so the tough decision was made to return him to us.
So, Benson is back to being available for adoption. This little bunny has been through a lot since he came into our care back in December of 2020. We hope that his perfect forever home will come along soon!

Our fostered rabbits are housed in x-pens or similar enclosures so they have lots of room to move around when they aren’t out for floor time. Some of our rabbits are free range in their foster home.
Commercially made pet store rabbit cages are far too small to allow rabbits to stretch out and move around with ease.
Here are some great websites and photos outlining alternative rabbit housing using x pens and similar enclosures.
