* Zorro found his forever home together with a lovely person! Yippee! *

Zorro was surrendered to a Quebec shelter by his owners. One Last Chance Rescue reached out to us for help, we were happy to welcome this sweet boy in. Thank you to One Last Chance, and thank you to the organizers and drivers at Freedom Drivers Animal Rescue Transport for getting Zorro to us safely.

Zorro was suffering from a respiratory virus when he arrived, so he was put on medication. It seemed to do the trick, but then the sneezing returned a short while after the medication was finished. After a second round of medication didn’t help much, our vets have concluded that Zorro has a chronic issue that will likely never completely clear up. We are hoping Zorro can find a forever home where there are other male (or spayed female) rats for him to be friends with, but we cannot guarantee that he wouldn’t pass the infection to them. Unfortunately there’s no test that will tell whether or not Zorro’s is a contagious version of the virus. The perfect home for Zorro would be where he can live with rats who also have a chronic respiratory issue.

Zorro is a lovely boy. He is a little shy about being picked up, but he’s very gentle when being handled once he’s in your arms. Zorro loves broccoli, crackers, and small bits of apple for snacks. He is currently in a double Critter Nation cage, and he takes advantage of all the space it provides. He doesn’t use the many hammocks spread throughout his cage, but he does have a favourite hidey hut and a bed. His favourite thing is to build nests with strips of newspaper and scrap fabric.
