Alice
* Alice found her forever home with wonderful people! Woo hoo! *
Alice came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray and was not claimed by her owner. She’s such a chubby girl, she can’t clean her own bum, so shelter staff had to clean her up when she arrived into their care. They also treated Alice for a flea infestation. She was hissy when she first arrived at the shelter, but warmed up to staff during her time there.
We got Alice out of the shelter and into a foster home. At Alice’s first vet appointment, her bum was cleaned up again and the fur trimmed. She was started on medication for an ear infection, and the vets noticed some cystic type growths in her ears. They don’t need to be removed, but her ears should be monitored and cleaned out regularly. The vet started Alice on a weight control food that she should continue on in her new home. Hopefully when she has lost a few pounds, she’ll be able to clean her own backside. But for now, she continues to need help keeping herself clean. Potential adopters need to be willing to keep on top of Alice’s hygiene.
After a couple of follow up vet appointments, Alice has been given the all clear to find her forever home!
Here’s a note from Alice’s foster mom:
“Alice is a lovely girl who is looking for a forever home where she will get lots of attention and cuddles. When she first arrived it took Alice a bit of time to feel comfortable but now she will just climb into my lap and fall asleep.
Alice would prefer to be the only pet in her new home as she doesn’t seem to love other animals. She tolerates the cat and dog in her foster home but that’s only because they give her space. If they get too close though she will give them a swat.
Alice would do best in a quiet home with no small children. Respectful, older children would probably be fine although she has not been kid tested.
She does have some cystic growths in her ears that can cause the wax to build up so they will need weekly cleaning so they don’t get infected.
Alice is on the chunkier side so a family who will help her continue to lose some weight would be wonderful. Because she is chunky she is unable to clean her backside properly. Her forever family will have to help her with that and wipe the area a few times a week to help Alice keep herself clean.
Alice would make a wonderful addition to the right home. She has a lot of love and cuddles to give. Please consider adopting this sweet, chunky girl.”
