Lucille
* Lucille and Bessie found their forever home together with wonderful people! Yay!*
Lucille and Bessie ended up at Hamilton Animal Services after their owner passed away. We were happy to get these lovely ladies out of the shelter and into a loving foster home.
Lucille and Bessie are both healthy, other than needing to lose a few pounds. At their vet visit, they had blood work done (they’re both FIV/FeLV negative), and a couple of weeks later they had dental cleanings. Bessie also had one broken tooth removed. They’ve recovered from their surgeries, and now they’re ready to find their forever home!
Here’s a note from their foster family:
“Bessie and Lucille are a pair of lovely middle aged ladies. Lucille is the elder of the two (8 or 9), but is just a tiny thing ( minus the belly). She loves snuggles and scratches, and is fine being picked up. She will yip when she is ready to be left alone. She is not a fan of being brushed, but has tolerated it once or twice.
She mostly naps, cuddles and poses for pictures. She has come over to play a few times, but mostly just watches Bessie from the couch. She does have short little legs, so jumping up and down is a bit of challenge, but she definitely can when she wants to. She will snuggle on in if you are having a nap on the couch, and is a great napper. She can be a bit hissy with Bessie (poor Bessie), but it’s mostly posturing and goes nowhere.
Bessie is a beautiful girl, about 5 or 6 years old. She LOVES brushes, and will flatten out like a pancake to get maximum coverage, all the while purring up a storm. She likes playing a bit more, but also is a big fan of naps and lounging. She enjoys looking out the window at the views.
Bessie also very adorably yowls while she stretches, which inevitably involves rolling around on the floor.
She isn’t too keen on being picked up, but knows when to come running for a brush.
Both of these ladies need to lose a bit of weight, but are otherwise in good health. They are both very chill and loving. They have not been introduced to any other animals, so we’re unsure how they will do in that situation.
It is probably best if their new home has no other animals and older children.”
