Lilly
* Lilly found her forever home with amazing people! Woo hoo! *
Benny, Chu Chu, and Lilly ended up at Hamilton Animal Services when their owner passed away. When the shelter reached out to us for help, we knew we had to rescue this trio together. They’d been through enough without having to be separated from each other. Thankfully, we had a foster home willing to take in these sweet seniors.
A short while after their rescue, the trio’s foster family noticed that Chu Chu was feeling poorly. Despite getting the best vet care we could offer, her health declined very quickly. After a short vet stay, Chu Chu’s health got past the point of repair, and we had to let her go. It was suspected that Chu Chu had been suffering with lymphoma for quite some time. 🙁
After his dental surgery, Benny thrived in his foster home, but Lilly did not. Benny was bullying Lilly to the point that she would hide for hours on end to escape his torment. After much discussion with their foster family, it was decided that the best thing would be to adopt the two cats out separately. Benny is now ready to find his forever home, and you can apply to adopt him here.
Lilly developed a lump on her leg that was removed at the vet, and now that she’s healed, she’s ready to find her forever home!
A quiet, relaxed home would be best for Lilly. Though she makes it to the box every time, Lilly’s advanced age doesn’t always allow her to always lower her back end to pee, so she needs a high-walled litter box.
Here’s a note from Lilly’s foster home:
“What can we say about Lilly? She came to us in rough shape, very skinny and afraid of her shadow and basically every other shadow as well. Lilly spent her first few months with us curled up and taking shelter on our entertainment unit as high up as possible with as many exits as possible. Since those times Lilly has now turned into the world’s biggest suck. From the time we wake up she is sitting and waiting to be picked up and held like a baby and all she does is melt and purr into your shoulders.
Lilly also adores belly rubs as long as you are patient with her and gain a great deal of trust she will reward you with the leg straight up in the air “You may rub my belly for me”. She may be 16 moving on 17 years old but she acts like a kitten and even resembles one at times. She is agile and can jump up to high places with little to no effort.
One thing about Lilly is she craves a lot of attention and she can be a vocal cat if she feels she isn’t getting that attention at that moment. Most of the time she wants to be held or receive pets and will move on from there. She would likely do best in a single animal home or with another elderly cat that is not hostile or trying to be the alpha of the house. Lilly also is prone to gaining mats in her fur if she isn’t brushed daily so please keep that in mind. We’re not sure what she does to create them so quickly.
Lilly is a wonderful elderly cat who will cuddle until you are ready for bed. She will keep you company and let you know you are loved.”
