Evie
* Evie has been adopted by a wonderful person, and she’ll have another pig to be friends with! Yay! *
Sweet, timid Evie came to Ladybird after she was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services. This poor girl is terrified of life. One of her ears is chewed up, but is healed now. We’re not sure how her ear was originally injured.
Evie is quite literally scared of everything. Not surprising, being a baby guinea pig with no pig friends or family to take comfort in. Guinea pigs are naturally herd animals, and should never be sold or given away as singles, which it seems Evie was.
In her foster home, Evie is in a cage right next to guinea pigs Bumble and Badoo, so she can see them and chat with them and know she’s not alone. She is very interested in the other pigs and stands on her tippy toes to peak over the cage bars to see what they’re up to.
Evie was given a clean bill of health at her vet visit, and she’s now ready to find her forever home! We are asking she go to a home with at least one other female or neutered male pig. Because of her fear of loud noises and quick movement, Evie is not a good fit for a home with small children. An adopter with guinea pig experience would be best for her. Guinea pig introductions can be difficult, but they are totally worth it if a strong bond can be formed. (see Bumble and Badoo’s profiles for their sweet introduction and eventual love story). And, check out these informative videos on pig introductions.
Evie loves most leafy greens, but she turns her nose up at apple and parsley. She really enjoys her timothy hay pile and will hide underneath it and munch away the day.
This scared little girl deserves a forever home with other pigs and a human who can be loving and patient to help see her through her fears.

Guinea pigs need much more room than the typical pet store guinea pig cages offer. Here are some websites that have great examples of the type of cages pigs can live happily in, so that they have lots of room to move around and explore:
