Danish
Sadly, Danish passed away unexpectedly. We’re not sure what happened, but we are thankful he was in a loving foster home when he passed.
Rest in peace Danish. We loved you!
Someone left a box full of gerbils in front of a pet store in Hamilton. Store staff found the box and called Hamilton Animal Services to pick them up. There were a number of gerbils in the box, including five newborn babies. HAS reached out to us for help, and we were able to take in four female gerbils and the five babies.
Thankfully, all the gerbils seem to be in good health, despite being abandoned the way they were. In their foster home, they’re enjoying the large enclosure, proper care, and love they’re being provided.
Sunflower raised her babies perfectly, and now that all the gerbils have been given a clean bill of health at the vet, they’re available for adoption!
The males – Dutchie, Cruller, and Danish are being housed together, and we’re asking that they be adopted as a trio. They’re friendly boys, and don’t mind being handled, though they should be supervised when being handled by children. The bedding in their tank is very deep, which allows them to make intricate tunnel systems to run through. They can be found chasing each other in play through the tunnels- popping up here and there. They really like the large wheel they’ve been provided. Gerbils are a lot of fun to watch, and with enrichment and the proper enclosure (a large tank with a secure lid is best), they can enjoy their best life.
