Apple and Cider were found as “strays” and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. It’s more likely that they were dumped by their owners, as opposed to being true strays who wandered away from home. They’re adorable piggies who definitely didn’t deserve to be abandoned. Apple and Cider’s stray time at the shelter came and went, but nobody came forward to claim them.
When a space opened up, we were happy to get Apple and Cider out of the shelter and into a foster home. They spent many months in their foster home before finally being adopted. Sadly, a year and a half later, they were returned due to a change of circumstance in their adopter’s home.
They had a vet visit on their return day, and were given a clean bill of health. Apple and Cider are again ready to find their forever home! We’re asking they be adopted as a pair.

These two have learned the sound of the fridge opening, and they’ll “wheek wheek wheek” to let their foster family know that they’re ready for their veggie snack. Their favourites are romaine lettuce, dandelion leaves and kale. Apple and Cider are friendly, but they’re a bit shy, and can be easily frightened by loud noises and quick movements. If you are slow and gentle with them though, they’re very sweet piggies.
They’re currently housed in a 6×2 C&C cage, and they take full advantage of all the space. They love the time they get to spend out of their cage, and they follow each other around as they explore. Apple and Cider deserve a forever home where they’ll have lots of space and lots of love.
