Prue
* Prue found her forever home with lovely people! Woo hoo! *
Prue was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services by her owners because they were traveling outside the country. Poor Prue’s nails were severely overgrown when she arrived at the shelter, and she was very confused about what was happening to her. Hamilton Animal Services had Prue spayed and they made her available for adoption. Nobody came forward to adopt Prue, and with more and more rabbits coming in, the shelter asked us for help. Thankfully, we were able to get Prue out of the shelter and into a loving, bunny-experienced foster home.
At her vet visit, Prue was given a clean bill of health, and now she’s ready to find her forever home!
Here’s a note from Prue’s foster mom:
“Prue is a lovely mini rex bunny that is ready to find her perfect home. She has the softest, plushest fur and loves to be cuddled. Somewhat unusually for a rabbit, Prue doesn’t mind being picked up and will settle in for a good, long snuggle. Prue is super affectionate, social, and adventurous. She prefers to have ample space and can be a little territorial, but she is generally very gentle and has only occasionally nipped. She does require plenty of time outside of her room for zoomies and exploring. She is happy to soak up as much attention as you are willing to pay her; in fact, she absolutely adores it! Prue has a voracious appetite and is a very good hay eater. She gets super excited for pellets and enjoys her daily greens. Prue’s favourite toy is a toilet paper roll! She now uses her litter box consistently, and other than chewing through a few blankets, she is non-destructive. Prue is very comfortable around a medium-sized dog. She really thrives with a lot of human attention and seems to be happy as an only bun, but she could be a good candidate to bond with a gentle male bunny who needs a friend. Prue is a really delightful little bunny and will bring immense joy to whoever is lucky enough to adopt her!”
* Prue has been vaccinated against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV).
June 2024 update from Prue’s adopter:
“I adopted Prue back in March 2023, and she has been such a joy! She settled in amazingly and has brought me so much happiness 🥰”

Rabbits need lots of space…
Our fostered rabbits are housed in x-pens or similar enclosures so they have lots of room to move around when they aren’t out for floor time. Some of our rabbits are free range in their foster home.
Commercially made pet store rabbit cages are far too small to allow rabbits to stretch out and move around with ease. Here are some examples of great enclosures, and rooms set up for free roaming bunnies.
