Walter Wrinklebottom
* Walter has been adopted by his foster family! Woo hoo! *
Walter Wrinklebottom came into Hamilton Animal Services as a “stray” and was not claimed. When he arrived at the shelter, he was suffering from a serious upper respiratory virus. Despite how yucky he must have been feeling, Walter was still in good spirits. We were thrilled to get this sweet, naked kitty out of the shelter as soon as we could. Walter had a vet visit on his rescue day, and he was started on medication for his congestion and runny nose. Walter is now chilling in his foster home and is loving all the soft blankets and comfy beds that he has been provided.
We hope this little wrinkly boy will feel better soon so he can be neutered. Sphynx balls are definitely a strange sight to behold!
Welcome to Ladybird, Walter! We’re so happy you’re here!
November 4/23 UPDATE
Sweet Walter is still not feeling great. Tests have confirmed he has feline herpes, calicivirus, and mycoplasma. Poor guy has all the things wrong with him! He’s been started on a new round of medication that will hopefully lessen his congestion and snotty nose. His foster family tell us that Walter has been covering everything in snot rockets. The walls, his blankets, their clothes… It’s nothing less than a booger fest over there! 😂 Thankfully, naked kitty is still feeling well enough to eat and he has started to play a little bit. Our fingers are crossed that this new medication will work and he will start to feel better.
Go, Walter! You got this!
December 4/23 UPDATE
Water is doing so much better! He’s still congested, but the snotty nose has subsided and he has a ton of energy now. He gets the zoomies several times a day, and goes flying through the house at top speed. Definitely proof that he’s come a long way since he first arrived!
His neuter is scheduled for this week, and hopefully all will go well for the surgery so he can start the search for his forever home shortly after.
Go, Walter!
December 24/23 UPDATE
Walter healed up perfectly from his neuter surgery, but unfortunately, his severe congestion and snotty nose has returned in full force. He’s back on yet another round of medication to see if it can be cleared up again. It’s becoming clear that this issue will likely be life-long, and will have to be kept under control as much as possible with medication. This round of meds is for a month, and he’ll have a vet visit when they’re done to see where he’s at.
For now, Walter is happy to “help” his foster family help out with Christmas wrapping and he’s enjoying all the extra snuggles and treats during the season.
Merry Christmas, Walter!
February 1/24 UPDATE
Water has a vet appointment next week, and we are hoping it will be the last one before he can be made available for adoption. He still goes back and forth with being congested/snotty, and then being fine. His vet is thinking after all the medications and treatments he’s had, that this is going to be a chronic issue for him that his forever home will need to just deal with as it happens.
There is a good chance that Walter’s foster family may decide to adopt him, but he won’t be technically available until he gets the go-ahead from his vet.
We love you Walter!
