* Barton and Birch have been adopted by wonderful people! Yippee! *

Barton and Birch were part of a group of guinea pigs who were abandoned outdoors in St. Catharines. Thankfully they were gathered up and brought to safety at the Humane Society of Greater Niagara. The shelter was already packed with guinea pigs prior to taking in this group, so they reached out to us for help. We were happy to take in Barton and Birch when a foster home came available. Barton and Birch were given a clean bill of health at the vet.

These boys are very cute, but very shy. When they first arrived, they would mostly hide and they were not interested in human interaction at all. After being in their foster home for a couple of weeks, they will now explore their enclosure and popcorn when they know their veggie snacks are coming, but they’re still very frightened about being being handled. Birch is the less skittish of the two. Barton will panic and run for cover when he sees people, but he has started to become more comfortable. Both pigs will now take treats and veggies from their foster mom’s hands. Progress! 🙂
Their adopters will still need to be very patient with both pigs and give them lots of time to get over their fears.
