Prudence
We’re thrilled to report that Prudence and Eleanor have found their forever home with another sweet guinea pig to be friends with.
Prudence and Eleanor were surrendered to a shelter in Quebec. Every shelter is over capacity right now, so Prudence and Eleanor were given a euthanasia deadline. Thankfully a new foster home was willing to take in these cute pigs and we were able to rescue them. Prudence and Eleanor came to us by way of One Last Chance, and Freedom Drivers volunteers. We’re very thankful for all the wonderful people who donate their time to transport rescued animals all across the country.
Prudence and Eleanor are shy girls so far. Since arriving they’ve been mostly hiding, but they will come out for their veggie snacks and treats. Their foster family will take the time to make them comfortable and hopefully they will learn to trust. It’s tough for an animal to trust when they’ve been let down by humans, but we will assure them that they will eventually be part of a forever home who will never give up on them.
They have a vet visit coming up, and we’ll know more about their health then.
Welcome to Ladybird, Prudence and Eleanor! We’re so happy you’re here!
UPDATE: June 25th, 2024
Please send happy thoughts and well wishes to Eleanor and Prudence who are having a visit with the vet today to be spayed. Eleanor will also having a benign mammary tumour removed, which can be common occurrences in guinea pigs. We’re hoping that these sweet girls heal up quickly so that they can start looking for a loving forever home. Special thanks go out to their foster home and vet team for taking such good care of them.
UPDATE: July 22, 2024
Everything went great with Eleanore and Prudence’s spays, and now that they’re all healed up, they’re ready for their forever home! Here’s a note from their foster family:
“Prudence is the shyer of the two. She loves to follow after her sister everywhere. She still does not let me pet her, but she is beginning to come up close to the cage putting her little feet against the bars when I enter the room. She is a sweetheart, a little too sweet, and lets her sister boss her around a bit, so I have to make sure they are both getting the same amount of food or it will get stolen.
Eleanor is the alpha female for sure! She is a brave girl. She comes right out to see what’s going on any time I am in the room. She loves cage-cleaning time and takes that as an opportunity to check me out and whatever I’m doing. She will allow pets on the head. She is a bossy girl. They both love cucumber more than any other snack and they’ve had about the entirety of my garden at this point.
Both very sweet and adorable girls.”
Please adopt Eleanore and Prudence!
