Whitehorse bring the jingle bells back to the Burlington Performing Arts Centre for the second annual Whitehorse Winter Classic performance to benefit the Ladybird Animal Sanctuary. This holiday show extraordinaire will feature songs from their JUNO Award-nominated holiday album, “A Whitehorse Winter Classic,” along with festive classics and other highlights from Whitehorse’s genre-spanning, award-winning albums.
Whitehorse, the partnership of Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet, will be joined by their band and a host of excellent musical guests. Last year’s show featured performances by Jim Cuddy and The Trews. This year’s special guests will be revealed at a later date.
The entire evening is in support of Ladybird Animal Sanctuary, a Hamilton-based animal rescue charity co-founded by Whitehorse’s Melissa McClelland. The charity is dedicated to saving the lives of cats, dogs and small animals from high-volume shelters in the Southern Ontario area, and the organization has rescued almost 2,000 animals since its inception in 2010. To help fundraise for Ladybird, audience members can participate in a silent auction at the concert and donate on-site as well.
With an expansive run of records that dip in psychedelic country, pop noir, blues rock and celestial folk, Whitehorse have pushed their musical identity into new realms and sounds for over a decade. As attested by five consecutive JUNO Award nominations in many different genre categories, Whitehorse do a lot of things, and do them well.
The evening is a benefit for Ladybird Animal Sanctuary, a charity co-founded by Melissa McClelland from Whitehorse.
