Amelia
Amelia was found as a stray and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. What a special little kitten Amelia is. She has no back feet, but you wouldn’t know it from how well she gets around. We don’t know if Amelia was born without back feet, or she suffered some kind of past injury, but she isn’t in any pain at all. Back in 2017, we rescued another kitten named Jenny who was missing her back paws. You can see Jenny’s rescue and adoption story here.
We got Amelia to the vet on her rescue day, and she was given a clean bill of health, aside from her “nubs” being a bit raw. We will have to wait and see how the nubs heal and callous over as she gets bigger, but she’s been provided all soft surfaces in her foster home to help with her comfort.
This adorable kitten has lots of energy, and she is affectionate towards everyone she meets. She’s a real sweetheart, and has a happy demeanour despite her missing paws.
Amelia will have another vet visit in four weeks for vaccines and to see how her nubs are progressing. She will eventually be made available for adoption, but not until she can be spayed and we have a better idea of what might be needed for her nubs (if anything) – so likely in a few months time.
Welcome to Ladybird, Amelia! We’re so happy you’re here!
