To adopt from Ladybird, you must be 19 years of age or older and obtain consent from all household members.
As our animals are in foster homes, meetings with adoptable animals can be arranged after your application is approved. Once approved, a meeting can be scheduled at the foster home, giving you the option to take the animal home immediately or take some time to decide. There is no obligation to adopt at the initial meeting, and the adoption fee is due on the day of adoption.
Please note that we cannot guarantee the availability of the animal you’re applying for due to various factors. The animal may have been adopted, received prior applications, or the foster home may decide to adopt them. If an animal becomes ill after being listed as available, they will be temporarily unavailable until they recover. In such cases, you can apply for another available animal in our care or explore other rescues and shelters in Southern Ontario. There are numerous rescued pets in need of forever homes in the area and beyond.
In situations where multiple applications are received for the same animal, the approved applicant who best meets the animal’s needs will be chosen. If you’re not selected to adopt, please understand that we receive a high volume of applications, and many exceptional applicants apply. Ultimately, there can only be one home for each animal.
If you have an upcoming vacation or are planning to move within a few months, we kindly request that you refrain from applying to adopt. We are unable to hold animals until your return or relocation. It’s best to wait until you are settled before welcoming a new pet into your home. We understand minor delays for home preparation or scheduling conflicts, but holding animals for extended periods is not feasible. Our priority is to rescue animals and ensure available foster spots. Additionally, we will have to continue to cover the costs of caring for the animal during the waiting period.
Please exercise patience as your application is being processed.
Adopters must agree to Ladybird’s Terms of Adoption, provide suitable references, and pay a non-refundable adoption fee.
Adoption fees are non-refundable and contribute to the cost of caring for the animal during their stay with Ladybird. Please note that adoption fees are not eligible for charitable donation receipts.
