Cosmo
* Cosmo and Wanda have found their forever home! Yay! * Wanda and Cosmo were found together as strays and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. It is assumed they are siblings. Because they were male and female, HAS staff separated them, but put their cages next to each other so they could still be close. No owner came forward to claim Wanda and Cosmo, and when a foster home opened up, we were happy to get them out of the shelter. We had Wanda and Cosmo fixed on their rescue day, and they were very happy to be reunited once… read more >>

Alfie
* Alfie found his forever home with wonderful people! Yay! * Alfie came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray, and was not claimed by his owner. His fur was matted and dirty, his eyes were cloudy, and his teeth were horribly rotten and infected. Despite all these issues, Alfie is a very happy dog! He loves everyone he meets! After a short time in his foster home, we had Alfie neutered, but his rotten teeth needed to be taken care of by a specialist vet. During the first dental surgery, Alfie had all his teeth removed It was quite an extensive… read more >>
Sparrow
* Sparrow found his forever home with a wonderful person! * Sparrow came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. This poor boy was covered in fleas, he had a severe infestation of ear mites, and he was suffering from an upper respiratory infection. He also has a slight head tilt that may be due to the ear mites. Shelter staff treated him for the fleas and mites, and they put him on medication for his congestion and runny nose. Two full rounds of medication later, Sparrow was still showing signs of the respiratory infection, and his head was still… read more >>
Winnie
* Winnie has been adopted by her foster home! And, she has a new brother! Ladybird adoption alumni, Pinkerton! * Brampton Animal Services contacted us when they needed help with the overwhelming number of rabbits they currently have in their shelter. Thankfully we had a foster home open up and we were able to take Winnie. Winnie was born at Brampton Animal Services on June 6th, 2020. She’s a gentle and sweet little bunny. She did great for her spay surgery, and after she healed, she was introduced to the other resident rabbit in her foster home. They hit it… read more >>
Joey
Joey came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray, but no owner came forward to claim him. HAS asked us to help Joey get out of the shelter, so we reached out to Ladybird foster home/board member/donor and all around wonderful person, Kylie from The Brow Room. A member of Kylie’s family currently has a budgie who had recently lost their partner, so the poor bird was all alone. Budgies are flock animals and they can become very depressed if housed by themselves. Kylie picked Joey up from the shelter, and he’s doing great so far. After a vet visit… read more >>
Harriet
* Harriet found her forever home with awesome people! Yay! * Harriet was found outdoors on her own. Being a red eared slider, Harriet is not a native species and would likely have not survived the winter if she hadn’t been brought into Hamilton Animal Services. We got Harriet out of the shelter and straight to the vet for a check up. Turns out, Harriet has quite a bad infection on the sides and bottom of her shell. This was likely caused by being kept in unsanitary conditions wherever she was living before she was dumped, and possibly not having… read more >>
Gabby
Gemini and Gabby were two of several animals brought to Hamilton Animal Services due to an eviction/hoarding situation. They spent a few weeks at HAS before we were able to rescue them when a foster home opened up. HAS were given no history (medical or otherwise) for Gemini and Gabby, and it is assumed neither of them were spayed. Gabby had an issue with mobility. She could get around okay, but was a bit wobbly and her back end would give out on her at times. Both cats had quite big bellies, though neither cat was pregnant. They were both very sweet… read more >>

They are over capacity for small animals right now, so they reached out to us for help. Hattie has skin issues and some lumps and bumps, but she seems otherwise healthy. Her foster home reports that she is a bit shy, but she happily accepts snacks, tucks them away in her hidey house and then comes back for more. She’s a sweet and gentle girl…. read more >>
Busby
* Busby went straight from the shelter to his forever home with Abby (skinnypigs1)! Congrats Busby! You hit the forever home jackpot! * Lincoln County Humane Society reached out to us for help with a young, terrified guinea pig who had come into their care after being abandoned in a box. Busby had been in a foster home with LCHS, but he wasn’t doing well there and it was agreed he would likely come out of his shell if placed with other guinea pigs. We reached out to Abby, a very popular Canadian Youtuber who is an authority in all… read more >>
Marlowe
* Mags and Marlowe found their forever home with a wonderful family! Woo hoo! * Mags, Marlowe, Sun, Moon and Emerald were found outdoors on their own and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. It’s likely these rabbits were originally from a nearby home where rabbits were being indiscriminately bred and allowed to wander the owner’s property, and the neighbourhood. Thankfully, several rescue organizations stepped in and took as many of the remaining rabbits they could catch. The babies had a vet visit on their rescue day, and although they were healthier than little Diamond who came from the same area, they were still… read more >>

Lark
* Lark found her forever home with an amazing family! Yay! * Hamilton Animal Services contacted us when they received a stray rabbit with serious wounds on her neck. Turns out, the wounds contained two large cuterebra, which are known as rodent bots or bot fly larvae. The larvae penetrate the skin, and enter the body through an opening where they grow under the skin until they drop off (i.e. exit the host) many weeks later. The larvae (maggot) will continue to develop in the ground over winter until it hatches into the mature botfly in the spring. Most animal… read more >>

* Apricot has been adopted by a lovely family! Yippee! * Apricot was brought into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray, but no owner came forward to claim her. She was spayed and declawed by her previous owner, but she was not microchipped. We were happy to get Apricot out of the shelter when a foster home opened up, and she went from the shelter straight to the vet. The vet let us know that Apricot is health, other than her teeth, which were pretty awful. She had likely been in a lot of pain for a long time judging… read more >>
