Ralph

Ralph @ HAS

* Ralph and Wilfred found their forever home with wonderful people! Yay! * Ralph and Wilfred were abandoned in a box at a Walmart in Hamilton. Their nails were extremely long, and their fur was matted and dirty. They were clearly not properly cared for before they were dumped.  Hamilton Animal Services was called, and they took the pigs in. Thankfully, we had an open foster home waiting for guinea pigs, so Ralph and Wilfred didn’t have to spend too much time at HAS. We got the pigs to the vet on their rescue day, and despite their past neglect, they are…   read more >>

Hutch

Hutch

* Starsky and Hutch found their forever home together with a lovely family! * We rescued Starsky and Hutch from a shelter in Quebec. Thank you Freedom Drivers volunteers for getting the pigs to us safely! Starsky and Hutch are a lovely pair of piggies. Starsky is more accepting of pats and handling than Hutch, but they’re both very friendly. At their visit with Dr. Davis at Virgil Animal Hospital, it was noted that Hutch is in the beginning stages of a condition called impaction, which is somewhat akin to constipation. You can read more about the condition here. Dr….   read more >>

Johnnie

Johnnie @ foster

* Johnnie found her forever home with a wonderful person! Yippee! * Johnnie ended up at Hamilton Animal Services when her owner passed away. She’s a shy girl, but she’ll give you head bonks and purrs when she gets to know you. Johnnie received a clean bill of health at the vet on her rescue day, and after a couple of weeks in her foster home, she’s now ready to find her forever home! Here’s a report from Johnnie’s foster mom: “Johnnie is quite possibly the best quarantine cat a person could ask for. She would love for nothing more…   read more >>

Pinkerton

Pinkerton @ foster

* Pinkerton found his forever home with lovely people! Woo hoo! * Pinkerton was found as a stray in Hamilton. He was favouring his back left leg, so the Animal Control officer from Hamilton Animal Services took him to the vet. Xrays showed that Pinkerton had a broken pelvis. Pinkerton was sent back to the shelter with the vet’s recommendation of cage rest and pain medication. His stray time came and went, but no owner came forward to claim him. We got Pinkerton out of the shelter and into the capable hands of small animal specialist vet, Dr. Stubbs at…   read more >>

Jax

* Jax found his forever home with awesome people! Yay Jax! * Jax came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray, but no owner came forward to claim him. Jax is a sweet, sweet boy! Such a happy little guy. He has a joyful jump and a tail wag for everyone he meets. At the vet appointment on his rescue day, it was discovered that Jax has a pretty significant heart murmur. A cardiac ultrasound revealed that Jax’s heart was healthy enough for anesthesia, and he was able to have the neuter surgery he needed. Thanks to Animal Hospital of…   read more >>

Diamond

Diamond @ HAS

Diamond lost her fight this morning. Despite being given the best medical care that could be provide to her, Diamond’s tiny body just couldn’t handle everything that was happening to it. She was dehydrated, she had worms, and who knows how long she had gone without proper nutrition before she came to us. Baby bunnies are so fragile at the best of times… it’s even tougher to survive being an abandoned baby bunny. We were hoping for a better outcome, but we take comfort that Diamond was surrounded by love when she passed. Sleep well little Diamond. We’ll never forget…   read more >>

Ally

* Ally found her forever home with wonderful people! Woo hoo! * We rescued Ally from Hamilton Animal Services. She arrived there as a stray.  We were happy to rescue Ally when a foster home opened up. We had Ally spayed, and now that she’s healed, she’s ready to find her forever home! Ally would not be the best choice for a first time rabbit owner. She’s a big bunny and she has some quirks that may be a lot to deal with for a novice. Here’s a note from Ally’s foster family: “Ally is a sweet, athletic bunny. She may be big,…   read more >>

Captain Fuzzy Boots

Captain Fuzzy Boots adopted

* Captain Fuzzy Boots found his forever home with is foster family! Yay! * Captain Fuzzy Boots ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray, but no owner came to claim him. Poor Captain was in rough shape when he arrived at the shelter. He was covered in mats, had an open wound behind his ear, his eye was ulcerated, and he had an infestation of ear mites. He was clearly neglected wherever he had been living before he ended up at the shelter. During his time at HAS, Captain Fuzzy Boots came down with a severe upper respiratory…   read more >>

Rosanne

Rosanne - photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Rosanne found her forever home with a lovely person! Yippee! * June and Rosanne were surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services by their owner when they were no longer able to care for them. Sadly, after many months in their foster home, we had to let June go due to ongoing health issues that could no longer be treated. Rosanne is now alone for the first time in her life, and she would love a forever home soon to help heal her broken heart. Here’s a report from Rosanne’s foster home: “Baby Rosanne misses her Mama, but is getting used to…   read more >>

Marcel

* Madison and Marcel found their forever home together with lovely people! * Mama Margot came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. On February 17th, which was shortly after her arrival, Margot gave birth to five babies. Unfortunately, two of the babies passed away shortly after being born. We were happy to rescue Margot and her remaining babies Marcel, Madison, and Morgan when a spot opened up. Margot did a great job raising her babies, despite the fact she gave birth to a second litter on March 20th, while Morgan, Marcel and Madison were just over a month old….   read more >>

Lenny

Lenny

Lenny was found as a “stray” and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. This poor old guy was in really rough shape. He was very skinny, dirty and had trouble with his balance. Despite how he must have been feeling, he was a very friendly rat. He was definitely someone’s pet before being dumped outdoors. The morning of his scheduled vet visit, Lenny’s foster family woke up to find him lethargic and struggling to walk. By the time he arrived at the vet clinic, it was clear Lenny was in cardiac distress. Because of his already frail condition and advanced age, there…   read more >>

Dustin

Dustin @ foster

* Mike, Dustin and Lucas have been adopted together to the perfect forever home! Yay! * Mike, Lucas and Dustin were rescued from Brampton Animal Services. Their mom was found as a stray and she gave birth in the shelter. While these wee guys are super cute, they are flighty and extremely frightened. They constantly hide and will look for any means of escape when they’re handled. They are not at all nasty, nor have they ever tried to bite, but they are probably the most frightened rats we’ve ever rescued. The ideal forever home for these three would be an…   read more >>

* Jonah found his forever home with lovely people! * Jonah was found on the streets of Hamilton, badly injured and not walking. Hamilton Animal Services was called and they brought Jonah straight to the vet. An xray showed that Jonah had a broken pelvis. Poor guy! It’s not known if he was hit by a car, or was injured in another way, but thankfully he was found and brought to safety. We got Jonah out of HAS and took him to Glanbrook Veterinary Services where he was been put on pain medication and where he got some cage rest. He…   read more >>

Ted

Ted

* Bill and Ted found their forever home together with wonderful people! * Windsor Humane Society reached out for help when they received an overwhelming number of guinea pigs. We were happy to assist and we took in Bill & Ted, and Itchy & Scratchy. Bill & Ted were surrendered to the shelter because they were “too much work.” Bill & Ted are sweet guys. They had some matted and crusty fur when they arrived, so their foster home gave them baths and got the mats out so they’ll feel more comfortable. Otherwise, they’re healthy and happy and they’re ready…   read more >>

Suzie - photo by Luca Simpson

* Suzie found her forever home with wonderful people! * Suzie came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray, and despite being at the shelter for more than a month, no owner came forward to claim her. She’s a sweet and loving girl, and would have been a good candidate for HAS’ adoption program, except that she tested positive for heartworm. As the shelter doesn’t have the resources to house and treat a heartworm positive dog, they reached out to us for help. Thankfully we had an open foster home to take Suzie in, and she has done great there. Suzie quickly…   read more >>
