Barbie

* Ken and Barbie found their forever home with lovely people! Woo hoo! * Ken and Barbie were found separately as strays and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. They were both very frightened little kittens, so Animal Services staff introduced them in hopes that they could comfort each other. Their plan worked perfectly, and Ken and Barbie quickly became inseparable. We were happy to get these adorable kittens out of the shelter and into a quiet foster home. Their foster family were prepared to take the time to socialize Ken and Barbie, and help them learn that humans aren’t as…   read more >>

Debbie

Debbie

* Debbie found her forever home with lovely people and another pig to be friends with! Woo hoo! * Debbie came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. It’s more likely she was dumped by her owner. Domestic animals don’t have the survival skills that wild animals do. They often starve to death, or are killed by predators when they’re abandoned outdoors. There is always an alternative to dumping, and there are many resources available. Dumping a pet is never the answer. Despite being abandoned, Debbie is a sweet and friendly pig. She’s loving all the space and attention she’s…   read more >>

They spent some time at the shelter and were up for adoption, but when Wilhelm developed a large mass on his neck, the shelter had to remove them from their adoption program. When we were at the shelter picking up other animals, staff there showed us Wilhelm and Jacob. Staff explained that the cost to have Wilhelm’s mass treated was beyond their financial constraints as a…   read more >>

We were happy to get these sweet kittens out of the shelter when a foster home stepped up. We got them to the vet on their rescue day, and they were started on medication and special food. They’re now settling in at their…   read more >>

Mango

* Mango found her forever home with a wonderful person and another guinea pig to be friends with! Yay! * Someone dumped Mango in a park in Hamilton. Thankfully, a kind citizen found her and brought her to Hamilton Animal Services. Please, please, please, if you don’t want a pet anymore, don’t release it outdoors. Wilhelm

Wilhelm

We’re so sad. Our sweet Wilhelm passed away. He was doing really well the days after his dental surgery, and we were excited for him to recover and finally be able to eat without trouble and pain. But he then became quiet and didn’t want to eat. Despite medication, supplemental feeding, and advice from our vets, Wilhelm went downhill quickly, and he passed away during the night. We are devastated. An autopsy showed that Wilhelm’s stomach had twisted, which is an unfortunate condition that guinea pigs can suffer from without warning. Our hearts go out to Wilhelm’s foster family, and…   read more >>

Sorbet

Sorbet

* Sorbet found her forever home with a lovely person! Yay! * Sorbet was found as a stray and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. She spent a few months at the shelter, but nobody came forward to claim her and nobody wanted to adopt her because of her shy nature. A noisy shelter environment is no place for a kitty who is having a hard time trusting people. She was friendly with the shelter staff she was familiar with, and she’d come to them for head scritches and pats. HAS reached out to us for help and we were happy…   read more >>

Mrs. Lop

Mrs. Lop

* Mrs. Lop found her forever home with awesome people! Yippee! * Mrs. Lop was found as a stray and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. When she arrived, she was very thin, was missing a lot of fur on her underside, and had other issues with her skin. We got Mrs. Lop to the vet and she stayed there for a few days to start her recovery. She was given a flea/tick/mite treatment, which seems to have taken care of some of the skin issues. Though we’ll never know for sure, it’s possible Mrs. Lop’s advanced fur loss was caused…   read more >>
