Winter

Winter - Photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Winter found her forever home with lovely people and another bunny to be friends with! Yay! * We rescued Winter from Hamilton Animal Services. She was part of a group of six rabbits (including Luna, Lily, Ricotta and Rigatoni) who were abandoned in a box in a rural area of Stoney Creek. When a foster home opened up, we were happy to get Winter out of the shelter. She went straight to the vet to be spayed, and then headed to her foster home to recover. She healed from her surgery like a champ, and now she’s ready to find…   read more >>

Scooter

Scooter @ HAS

We rescued Scooter from Hamilton Animal Services, where he ended up as a stray. Nobody came forward to claim this sweet boy, so we were happy to get him out of the shelter and into the vet to be neutered. Scooter’s foster family fell in love with him and they’re going to keep him forever! Yay! Congrats Scooter!

Alpacino

Alpacino - photo by Trevor Weeks

* We’re thrilled to report that Alpacino has found his forever home! * Alpacino was brought into Hamilton Animal Services when he was found as a stray. This poor guy was suffering from strange lesions on his face. We took Alpacino to Guelph Animal Hospital where he was neutered, viral tested (FIV and FeLV negative!) and a biopsy of the lesion was sent out for testing. The first results were somewhat strange, so another biopsy was taken and sent out for a second opinion. It took some time to get the results, and then we had to wait for a…   read more >>

Chip

* Chip found his forever home with a wonderful person and other guinea pigs to be friends with! * Chip ended up at Hamilton Animal Services as a “stray.” He’s a cute and friendly little guy. Chip spent a few weeks at HAS before a foster home opened up and we were able to rescue him. We got him into the vet for a check-up, and he was given a clean bill of health. He settled in great at his foster home and now he’s ready to find his forever home! We are asking that he have another male, or…   read more >>

Beatrice

Beatrice @ foster

Beatrice was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services after a change in her owner’s family left her without a place to go. Poor Beatrice had terrible dental disease that was causing her mouth to be very painful. She was not spayed. She had mammary tumours, extremely overgrown nails and her coat was a matted mess. This sweet little dog was in rough shape… We were happy to get Beatrice out of the shelter, straight to Guelph Animal Hospital for a check-up, and we tackled her issues one by one. First, Beatrice had dental surgery. Because they were so severely rotted, every last…   read more >>

Diva

Diva @ foster

* Diva found her forever home with a lovely person! Yay! * Diva ended up at Hamilton Animal Services when her owner passed away. What a sweet, sweet cat Diva is! She certainly doesn’t look or act her age, and she has the cutest meow. We are so in love with her! We got her the dental surgery she needed (five extractions and a good cleaning of the remaining teeth) and she did well healing in her foster home. Other than some “old cat” arthritis, Diva is in great shape for a lady her age! She did great in her…   read more >>

Lois

Lois - photo by Little Paws Cat Sitting

* Lyndel and Lois found their forever home together with wonderful people! * Lyndel and Lois came into Hamilton Animal Services as strays. They waited out their stray time, but were not claimed by their owner. HAS put them into their adoption program, but because they continued to have diarrhea for an extended period of time after many dewormings and medications, they had to take them out of the program. We were happy to take these two sweet kittens and get them the extra vet care they couldn’t get at HAS. (HAS does not have a vet on staff) Lyndel…   read more >>

Barney

Barney - photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Rest in peace sweet Barney. We will never forget you. * After months of vet visits, medication and lots of love from his foster family, Barney was finally healthy enough to have his dental surgery. He had the surgery and three very rotten teeth were removed. He seemed to be doing well after the surgery, but the next day, he started to decline. The clinic told us he wasn’t eating and he was lethargic. Over the next few days, they force fed him, did tests and gave him medications to try to figure out what was going on, but…   read more >>

Carter

* Carter found his forever home with a lovely person and other cats to be friends with! * Carter found himself at Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. He was the friendliest guy! Never stopped purring and constantly rubbing and bonking on everyone he meets. Total sweetheart! We got Carter out of the shelter and straight to the vet where he was neutered. He healed up perfectly, and found his forever home shortly after! Here’s an update from Carter’s forever home (December 2019): “Just a note to say that Carter (now Owen) is enjoying life with his two sisters Phoebe and Piper (Guelph/Hamilton SPCA)….   read more >>

Chester

* Little Chester passed away suddenly in his foster home. Our hearts go out to his foster mom who loved him very much.  Sleep well Chester. You were so loved. Sam, Chester and Charlie (as well as many other mice) were surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services when their owner was no longer able to care for them. These three are very active. They absolutely love running in their wheels and they’re very fond of food! We were hoping to adopt them as a trio, but unfortunately, these guys were fighting so severely that they had to be separated. They received…   read more >>

Sam

Sam @ foster

* After being in our care for a year and six months, sweet Sam’s health started to decline. Despite a visit to the vet and medication, his little senior mouse body wasn’t able to recover and he was humanely euthanized at the emergency clinic.  We’re sad Sam didn’t find his forever home, but we’re thankful he had a wonderful foster mom to care for him until the end.  Rest in peace, Sam. We’ll never forget your cute face. *     Sam, Chester and Charlie (as well as many other mice) were surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services when their owner was…   read more >>

Mason

Mason - photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Mason found his forever home with amazing people! Yay! * Mason came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. This poor guy was suffering from rodent ulcers in his mouth, and he had two large open lesions on his side. His teeth were pretty bad, he definitely needed to be neutered, and to top it all off, he (SNAP) tested positive for FIV. Mason was unfortunately on the euthanasia list because of these issues, but his extra friendly personality prompted a kind HAS staff member to contact us to see if we could help. We were happy to get this sweet…   read more >>

Beckett

* Beckett and Bash have been adopted by their foster home! Yay! * Beckett was found, very close to drowning, in a homeowner’s pool. Sadly, Beckett’s sibling was also found in the pool, but it was too late for him. Beckett was brought to Hamilton Animal Services and they immediately got him dried off and warmed up. Thankfully, Beckett’s pool adventure has not caused him any serious health issues. It seems like Beckett has not had a lot of handling by humans (as you can see from the hissy fit he’s throwing in the video) but he stops hissing pretty…   read more >>

Bash

Bash feeling better

* Beckett and Bash have been adopted by their foster home! Yay! * On October 14th, we rescued a kitten named Beckett from Hamilton Animal Services. You can read Beckett’s story here. A few days later, we got word from HAS staff that another kitten who looked exactly like Beckett had been brought in from the same address. We were more than happy to rescue this kitten and reunite him with his brother. They are pretty happy to be back together! Welcome Bash! We’re so happy you’re here and that we could reunite you with your brother! Bash and Beckett…   read more >>

Arlo

Arlo @ HAS

Two days before Christmas, someone left a box outside the doors of the Hamilton SPCA during the night. Thankfully, an animal control officer who was working next door at Hamilton Animal Services, happened to notice the box as they were driving by. They stopped to investigate, and inside the box was Arlo. Arlo was taken to Hamilton Animal Services to wait out his “stray time.” At the shelter, Arlo was a shy guy, but friendly. His two different coloured eyes are so stunning, and he became a staff favourite for his unique look. Last week, we were thrilled to receive…   read more >>

Phillip

* Terrance and Phillip found their forever home with a lovely family! Yay! * Terrance and Phillip were surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services by their owner because Phillip had an abscess on his cheek. As you can see in the photos, the abscess was so heavy, it was pulling Phillip’s lower eyelid down. Poor guy! After an initial vet visit with Dr. Davis at Lincoln County Humane Society Animal Clinic, it was decided that Phillip could have surgery to remove the lump. Thankfully the mass is a benign tumour called a “Trichoepithelioma”. This tumour is not the type that spreads…   read more >>
