Rizzo
* Rizzo found his forever home with lovely people! * We rescued Nicodemus and Rizzo from a shelter in Quebec. Big thanks to Freedom Drivers Volunteer Transport volunteers for getting the rats to us! Nicodemus and Rizzo’s owner surrendered them to the shelter because “they were fighting but couldn’t be separated because they were escaping.” The shelter separated them when they arrived. Nicodemus and Rizzo both had some scrapes and cuts on them, and their fur was quite sparse. Shortly after their rescue, we got them into the vet and they were prescribed a round of medication for a minor respiratory… read more >>
Nicodemus
February 12/19 – Sad news. Nicodemus’ foster family awoke to find he had passed away during the night. We’re not sure what happened, but there were no signs of illness or injury. It does seem that Nicodemus and Rizzo were much older than their previous owners disclosed…so Nicodemus’ passing may have been age related. Our hearts go out to his foster family. Rest in peace Nicodemus. We’re sad you didn’t get the forever home you were waiting for, but we’re glad you knew lots of love for the time you were with us. We rescued Nicodemus and Rizzo from a shelter… read more >>
Simon
* Simon found his forever home with awesome people! * We rescued Carol and Simon from a shelter in Quebec. Big thanks to Freedom Drivers Volunteer Transport volunteers for getting the hamsters to us! Carol and Simon were surrendered to the shelter because their owner didn’t have time for them. Dwarf hamsters aren’t known for being particularly friendly (though some are) and these two are pretty feisty (i.e. bitey). We’re hoping with some more attention than they were getting in their previous home, they’ll eventually get used to being handled. Carol and Simon both received a clean bill of health from… read more >>

Bubbles
* Bubbles has been adopted by his foster home! Yay! * Bubbles came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. He’s a friendly guy, so we know he belonged to someone before he was abandoned outdoors. When Bubbles arrived at HAS, his nails were extremely long, but he was otherwise in good health. We were happy to rescue this sweet guy when a foster home opened up, and he’s currently at the vet to be neutered. We’ll have an update for you soon. Welcome to Ladybird Bubbles! We’re glad you’re here!

Lily
Sadly, sweet Lily passed away very unexpectedly in her foster home. She was happy and hopping one minute, and gone the next. Our vets think it was likely sudden heart failure. Our hearts go out to her foster mom, and to Lily’s sister Luna, who will be missing her sibling, even though they were feuding at the time. Rest in peace Lily. We’ll never forget your sweet face. Luna, Lily and four other rabbits were abandoned in a box in a rural area of Stoney Creek. Thankfully, someone came across the box and the rabbits were brought to… read more >>
Luna
* Luna found her forever home with a lovely family! Yay! * Luna, Lily and four other rabbits were abandoned in a box in a rural area of Stoney Creek. Thankfully, someone came across the box and the rabbits were brought to Hamilton Animal Services. Luna and Lily are friendly bunnies, and they were very bonded to each other when they arrived. We had Luna and Lily spayed, and they healed perfectly from their surgeries. A few weeks after their surgeries, Luna and Lily had a serious and sudden fight, that escalated to the point that they had to be… read more >>
Coriander
* Broccolini and Coriander found their forever home with lovely people! * Broccolini and Coriander were surrendered to Lincoln County Humane Society when their owners were relocating and weren’t able to take the pigs with them. At the moment LCHS is packed to the brim with small animals. They have many rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters and birds waiting for their forever homes. We were happy to take in Broccolini and Coriander to lessen the shelter’s load, even just a little. Broccolini and Coriander are nice boys, but like at lot of guinea pigs, they’re not too thrilled about being handled…. read more >>

D.C.
* D.C. found his forever home with our friend Jill at Little Paws Cat Sitting! * We rescued D.C. from Hamilton Animal Services. D.C. came into HAS as a stray. He was infested with fleas and was in serious need of dental surgery. He was already neutered, declawed and microchipped, but the chip was never registered so there was no way to contact DC’s owners. Nobody came forward for him, nor were any lost reports filed during his two week stay at HAS. We were more than happy to spring D.C. out of the shelter and get him the vet… read more >>
Tucker
* Lucky Tucker has been adopted by his foster home, and his new name is Lewis! Yay! * Tucker was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services by his owner when they were no longer able to care for him. At 13 years old, a shelter was certainly no place for such a sweet dog. We got Tucker out of the shelter and took him straight to the vet, as he has quite a number of issues. Tucker is now on antibiotics for an ear infection. There is thickening of his ears that our vets advised is likely due to a hematoma… read more >>
