Daisy

Daisy - Photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Daisy found her forever home with a lovely person! * Daisy was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control by her owner when her owner became too ill to care for her. Daisy’s owner was heartbroken to have to leave her at the shelter, but efforts to place Daisy with family or friends were unsuccessful, and her owner was not physically able to look after Daisy any longer. Daisy was not happy about being in the shelter. She’d been with her owner since she was six months old, so she was understandably confused and stressed. A Ladybird foster home opened up…   read more >>

Mary Jane

Mary Jane - photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Mary Jane found her forever home with lovely people, and she has a dog brother to be friends with too! * A week before Christmas, Mary Jane was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control by her owner because her owner was moving. At twelve and a half years old, after being with one owner since she was a puppy, Mary Jane was understandably confused, stressed and upset about being left in a cage in a noisy shelter instead of at home with her family. Thankfully, it only took us a couple of days to line up a foster home for…   read more >>

Sterling

Sterling @ foster

* Sterling found his forever home with the most amazing people! Yay Sterling! * Sterling was found loose in the driveway of the Hamilton Animal Control building. He was unable to use his back legs, but was still alert and trying to hop around. It’s disheartening that someone took the time to bring Sterling all the way to the shelter, but then dumped him in the driveway instead of bringing him inside…especially in the condition he was in. HAC staff sent Sterling to the vet, and xrays showed that he had serious thinning of his bones and muscle wasting, likely…   read more >>

Vincent

Vincent adopted

* Vincent was adopted by his foster family! Yay! * Vincent was brought into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. Shortly after Vincent’s arrival at HAC, staff noticed that he was straining to urinate and was clearly in pain. They sent Vincent to the vet where he received treatment to unblock his urinary tract. The treatment worked very well and he was sent back to the shelter on a special diet to help insure he didn’t block again. During the next few weeks Vincent spent at the shelter, he became a staff favourite. He’s a total love bug! Head bonks…   read more >>

Charlie

Charlie adopted

* Charlie’s foster family fell head over heels for him, and they decided he should stay forever! Yay Charlie! * Charlie came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray and was never claimed. He’s a real sweetheart, but is quite overweight! We rescued him from HAC and took him to the vet for a check-up. Thankfully, Charlie is pretty healthy! His blood tests came back mostly normal, but he needs to lose some weight before he can have the neuter and dental cleaning surgery he needs. The lovely folks at Yellow Dog Grooming donated their services to get Charlie looking and feeling…   read more >>

Nettie

Nettie

* Celie and Nettie found their forever home with a lovely person! * Celie and Nettie were surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control by their owners because the child in the home was not caring for them properly. We rescued Celie and Nettie from HAC and took them to the vet for a check-up where they got a clean bill of health. Yay! Their foster home reports that Celie and Nettie are lovely piggies who don’t mind being handled gently. They love their timothy hay and they enjoy a variety of fruit and veggie snacks. Celie and Nettie’s adopter must be…   read more >>

Tofu

Tofu @ HAC

* Chicory and Tofu have been adopted by their foster home! Yay! * A citizen came into Hamilton Animal Control carrying a large Rubbermaid bin containing three adult cats that they claimed they had found. It was pretty clear that Chicory and Tofu were brothers, and the third cat was likely not related. Strangely, Chicory and the other cat were already neutered but Tofu was not. After waiting out their stray time, the third cat went into HAC’s pilot adoption program through PetSmart, and he was quickly adopted. Chicory and Tofu are friendly cats, but they would have been too shy to…   read more >>

Mickey

Mickey and Santa

* Mickey found his forever home with lovely people! Yay! *   Mickey came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. One of Mickey’s eyes is cloudy and the other is protruding. He is likely blind, or only has a very limited vision. Mickey’s nails were quite overgrown and his ears needed a good cleaning. He was in pretty rough shape. HAC staff sent Mickey to the vet, and the vet sent him back to the shelter with some eye medication. Mickey was not happy being in a cage in a noisy shelter. All he wanted was to be with people….   read more >>

Sweet Potato

Sweet Potato @ foster

* Sweet Potato found her forever home with a lovely person! * Twenty pounds of Sweet Potato love! Sweet Potato came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. How a declawed, twenty pound cat who only wants to take a few steps before laying down becomes a stray is a mystery to us, but we digress… Despite having a pretty bad flea infestation, and a very dirty bum from not being able to turn to clean it, Sweet Potato is as sweet as they come. HAC staff got her bum cleaned up and administered flea treatment, and she seemed to…   read more >>

Goldie

Goldie - photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Goldie has been adopted by her foster home! Yay! *   What a tale Goldie has to tell. Goldie’s owner showed up to Hamilton Animal Control to surrender her. When the owner was told there was a fee to surrender an animal, she caused a scene, verbally abused the shelter staff and abruptly left the shelter, taking Goldie with her. Shelter staff didn’t even get as far as being able to ask any info about Goldie, or why she was being surrendered. A few minutes later, another customer came in, carrying Goldie. This customer had watched Goldie’s owner take…   read more >>

Babs

Babs adopted

* Babs has been adopted by her foster home! Yippee! * Babs was found alone and soaking wet under a bush in the Flamborough area. The kind citizen who found Babs checked the area for a mother cat or any siblings, but neither could be found. They then brought Babs to Hamilton Animal Control so she could get the care she needed. Babs is only about three weeks old, and too young to be away from her mom. The staff at HAC warmed Babs up, fed her and staff members took her home over the weekend so she could be…   read more >>

Jenny

Jenny rescue day

* Jenny found her forever home with the lovely people who were fostering her! * Jenny came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. She’s missing her back feet! We’ll never know for sure why her paws are missing, but our vets think it may have been an injury when she was very small. One of her stumps has developed a good callus, but the other was open and bleeding when we rescued her.  Jenny was also suffering from a nasty case of ear mites. Ear mites are awful and extremely itchy for a normal cat, but even worse for…   read more >>
