Caramel

Caramel - photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Chip and Carmel were adopted by their foster family! Yay! * Chip and Caramel came into Hamilton Animal Control as strays. They’re only about four weeks old, which is too young to be away from their mom. Another kitten named Boo was placed with them, but Chip and Carmel mistook Boo’s groin area for a good place to suckle, and that didn’t go very well for Boo, so he was separated from them. You can see Boo’s story here. Somehow, Carmel hurt her leg and wasn’t putting weight on it. We had her x-rayed at the vet, and thankfully,…   read more >>

Sprinkles

Sprinkles

* Sprinkles found her forever home with lovely people! * Sprinkles, and several other cats and dogs (including Morrie) ended up at Hamilton Animal Control when they were removed from their home due to the poor conditions there. When Sprinkles arrived at HAC, she was covered in fleas and was suffering from an upper respiratory virus. Shelter staff started her on medication and gave her a flea treatment. Thanks to the care Sprinkles received, she was feeling much better by the time we were able to rescue her. Not 100%, but definitely better! Sprinkles is a super friendly little girl….   read more >>

Morrie

* Morrie found his forever home with wonderful people! * Morrie and several other dogs and cats ended up at Hamilton Animal Control when they were removed from their home due to the poor conditions there. Thankfully, other than fleas and some matting, Morrie was in pretty good health when he arrived at the shelter. And he has a lovely, happy personality! We rescued Morrie from HAC and took him straight to the vet. At his vet visit he got a clean bill of health. We had him neutered, and he then went to his foster home. Morrie has had…   read more >>

Boo

Boo @ foster

* Boo found his forever home with lovely people! * Little Boo came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. He was placed with two other unrelated kittens (Caramel and Chip) who were close in age. Unfortunately, it seems these two mistook Boo’s groin area for the perfect place to suckle. They were clearly missing their mom since they were too young to be away from her. The two kittens caused a bit of trauma to Boo’s business, and he started to have trouble peeing. Off to the vet! Boo was suffering from a pretty bad infection, and the fantastic…   read more >>

Pumpkin Spice

* Autumn and Pumpkin Spice found their forever home with a lovely person! * Autumn and Pumpkin Spice came into Hamilton Animal Control as strays. It’s possible that they are mother and daughter, but we’ll never know for sure. These sweet girls were HAC staff favourites because of their lovely personalities. HAC had Autumn and Pumpkin Spice spayed through the Ontario Vet Association program. When they were returned to the shelter after their surgeries, we had a foster spot open up and we were happy to rescue them! Autumn and Pumpkin Spice settled in nicely at their foster home and…   read more >>

Giuseppe

Giuseppe @ foster

** Giuseppe found his forever home with lovely people! ** Giuseppe was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control by a family member when his owner was admitted to hospital. Giuseppe is such a sweet cat! So lovely and affectionate. Giuseppe has a hematoma in one of his ears. During his stay with them, HAC staff sent Giuseppe to the vet to have the hematoma drained three times. Each time, the ear filled back up again soon after. This type of hematoma can be very uncomfortable, but throughout all this, sweet Giuseppe continued to be in good spirits, despite how he must…   read more >>

Chico

Chico @ foster

* Chico found his forever home with lovely people! * Chico was brought into Hamilton Animal Control when he was found outside near the mountain brown in Hamilton. He was extremely thin and covered in scabs when he arrived at HAC. We’ll never know how long Chico had been out on his own, but he is lucky that someone recognized that he was a domestic rat, and cared enough to bring him to safety. In the few weeks Chico spent at HAC, staff there did a great job of getting some weight onto him. They also bathed him and treated…   read more >>

Downie

Downie adopted

* After performing the leg amputation surgery, and caring for Downie at her home post-surgery, Dr. Fleming fell in love with Downie, and he will be staying with her forever! Yay Downie (now named Gordie)! Best forever home, ever!   Hamilton Animal Control officers picked up Downie when they received a call about an injured cat. Downie had lacerations on his foot and he wasn’t using his back leg properly. HAC took Downie to the vet and he was looked over, and after a couple of days, sent back to the shelter with pain medication to wait out his stray…   read more >>

Bella

Bella-photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Bella found her forever home with a lovely person! * Back in June 2017, Bella was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control by her owners because of allergies in the family. During her time at the shelter, it was discovered that Bella despises other cats. She really, really doesn’t like them. She basically hates every cat, no matter how friendly he or she may be. If there’s a cat in Bella’s space, she kinda freaks out. Even though Bella is a very sweet cat to humans, her cat-hating attitude made her a tough candidate for rescue, because most foster homes…   read more >>

Weebles

Weebles

Weebles was brought into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. She was a very sweet hedgehog, but shelter staff noticed right away that she was having mobility issues. We rescued her from HAC and took her straight to the vet. After an exam and xrays, Webbles was diagnosed with a condition called Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome. WHS is is a progressive, degenerative, neurological disease that has no known treatment or cure. Though Weebles had some trouble standing up and would occasionally tip over, she was not in any pain, and was still eating, drinking, and doing all the typical hedgehog things……   read more >>

Mindy

Mindy - photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Mindy found her forever home with a wonderful person! Yay! * Scarlett and Mindy were surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control when their owner was no longer able to care for them. These two girls were sweet as pie! Always rubbing, non-stop purring and looking for attention. Mindy was in wonderful health for a cat her age, but when we got her to the vet, it was noted that she needed to have a few teeth extracted. When she was anesthetized for her dental surgery, the vet got a good look inside her mouth and things were a lot worse…   read more >>

Scarlett

Scarlett and Mindy were surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control when their owner was no longer able to care for them. Scarlett was sweet as pie. She was always rubbing, non-stop purring and looking for attention. When we rescued her, Scarlett was already showing some of the signs of being a senior, declawed cat. She had muscle loss in her back end, but could still get around fine. Scarlett’s blood work showed the beginnings of kidney and thyroid disease. Our vets started her on medication and special food, and she did very well on both. After a year in foster care,…   read more >>

Sadie

Sadie - photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Sadie found her forever home with lovely people! * Sadie was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control by her owners because they were temporarily moving out of the country. Sadie’s owners told HAC staff that they had never taken Sadie to the vet, so the first thing we did was have her spayed and vaccinated. Sadie healed very well from her surgery and we were hoping to make her available for adoption shortly after, but she wasn’t being very nice to her foster people so we gave her some time. Turns out, a lot of Sadie’s issues were with the other…   read more >>

Fozzie

Fozzie - photo by Willow Bean Photography

** Fozzie found his forever home with lovely people! ** Fozzie was brought into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. This poor senior boy was clearly neglected. He was missing most of his fur, he was very itchy, he desperately needed dental surgery, and he had some mobility issues. Despite all these issues, Fozzie was a friendly guy, though he must have been feeling pretty yucky. After a couple of months in foster care, Fozzie is now doing great! His fur is growing back and his mobility has improved ten fold. He’s enjoying being spoiled by his foster family, and he…   read more >>

Portia

Portia

* Pontiac and Portia found their forever home together with wonderful people! * Portia was brought into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. A couple of days later, a male rat who looked identical to Portia was brought into HAC as a stray from the same area. Portia turned out to be pregnant, so we’re assuming she and the other rat (Pontiac) were together before they ended up at the shelter separately. While at the shelter, Portia gave birth to 8 babies. On August 24th, she delivered four girls and four boys and they were super cute! We were happy to…   read more >>
