Memphis

Memphis - photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Memphis found her forever home with a lovely person, and other cats to be friends with! * We rescued Memphis, Maryland and Miami from Hamilton Animal Control where they found themselves as strays. While these girls were still on the streets, they had contracted an intestinal parasite called coccidia, which causes severe diarrhea, and can eventually cause organ damage if gone untreated. Thankfully, HAC staff caught the issue in time and treated the kittens with medication. When the kittens were feeling better we were happy to rescue them. They had a vet visit before heading to their foster home,…   read more >>

Shumi

Shumi

* Shumi’s foster home decided that he should stay forever! Congrats on being adopted Shumi! * When Oakville Humane Society reached out to us when they ran out of room for small animals, we were happy to help, even if it was just to take in one critter. Welcome Shumi the hedgehog! Shumi was surrendered to OHS when his owner moved away. Thankfully, Shumi has an experienced hedgehog foster home to go to, and we’ll have an update on his progress soon. He’s a pretty sweet guy so far! Welcome to Ladybird Shumi!

Milo

Milo

Poor Milo came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray, suffering from an eye infection. We rescued Milo from HAC and took him straight to the vet. Turns out, Milo’s eye wasn’t the only issue going on. The inside of Milo’s mouth was abscessed and full of puss and infection. This must have been so uncomfortable for so long! Poor bunny… We took Milo to see Dr. Stubbs at Spencer Creek Animal Hospital, and she debrided all the abscesses she could that first day, and put Milo on a series of medications for his eye and mouth. He then went…   read more >>

The Easter aftermath…

Abandoned rabbits

So, remember that thing we said about how rabbits purchased at Easter time are usually abandoned shortly after the novelty wears off? Well, Easter was just over two months ago, and here is the sad reality of why we try to spread the message of not purchasing rabbits as Easter gifts. Six of these rabbits are waiting for rescue at Hamilton Animal Control. The other two are in a high-volume shelter in Quebec waiting for rescue…all of which we have been asked to try to help. These are just a few of the hundreds of stray/abandoned/surrendered rabbits in shelters all…   read more >>

Matilda

Matilda - photo by Willow Bean Photography

*Matilda’s foster home became her forever home! Yay! * Matilda came into Burlington Animal Services as a stray. It was pretty obvious on her arrival that she was suffering from some serious neglect. She was severely matted, suffering from dry eye and seemed to be blind, the insides of her ears were infected, and her teeth were rotten. Despite how awful she must have been feeling, Matilda had a smile and waggy tail for everyone she met. Burlington Animal Services got her into the vet and started on several eye medications, which helped somewhat. They also had her blood tested…   read more >>

Chuck

Chuck - photo by Willow Bean Photography

* Chuck found his forever home with lovely people! * Chuck came into Hamilton Animal Control as a stray. He’s already neutered, so whoever he belonged to didn’t come looking for him at HAC, even though he had been there for more than two weeks. Chuck had a vet visit on his rescue day, and the vet said he was pretty healthy, other than a little bit of sparse fur and the scratches on his nose. Nothing some quality food and healing time won’t fix! Chuck tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Yay! He made himself comfortable right away at…   read more >>

Speedy

Speedy

* Speedy found his forever home with a lovely family! * We rescued Speedy from a high-volume shelter in Quebec. Big thanks to Freedom Drivers volunteers for getting Speedy to us safely! Speedy’s eyes were in rough shape when we first rescued him. We’re not sure the cause, but Speedy is likely blind in one eye. After vet check-ups and medication, his eyes are looking much better. The loss of site in one eye doesn’t slow him down at all! Because of his shy nature, Speedy would do best in a quiet home with no small children. Here’s what Speedy’s…   read more >>

Eddie

Eddie - photo by Little Paws Cat Sitting

** Eddie found his forever home with lovely people! ** Eddie was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Control by his owners because of allergies. He’s a lovely boy, and so gorgeous! He is a mix of a breed of cat called a Birman, but we don’t know for sure what he has been mixed with. No matter the breed, Eddie is a very handsome boy! We rescued Eddie from HAC and took him to the vet for a check-up. He is pretty healthy for a senior cat, but we did a blood test to make sure everything is okay internally, and…   read more >>

Petunia

Petunia

* Petunia has found her forever home with her foster family! Yay! * We rescued Petunia from Hamilton Animal Control. She was found as a stray. Petunia is a super friendly ferret, but she’s suffering from a very swollen vulva. Our vets advised that this could either be because she is not spayed, or it could be adrenal gland disease. Petunia settled in at her foster home while she had several vet visits for tests and treatment to sort out the issue. After a short time with no change, Petunia underwent surgery where it was discovered that she in fact,…   read more >>

Dot

Dot

May 25th, 2017 We really don’t like having to bring you bad news, but our sweet little Dot has passed away. She started to show signs of illness over the past couple of days, and despite vet visits over those days, and an emergency vet visit late last night, whatever illness that had a hold of Dot’s wee body would not let go, and she passed away in the loving arms of her foster dad early this morning. We send our heartfelt condolences to Dot’s foster dad, and we want to thank him, and the vets who did their best…   read more >>
