Bear
We rescued Bear from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Bear is a sweet old dude. He has a happy smile and lots of tail wags for everyone he meets. His fur was matted and his ears were quite dirty. His eyes are cloudy, but he can see just fine. We’re not sure if he can hear all that well, but that’s okay! He’s very spry for a senior dog. At his vet visit, it was discovered that Bear had a large hernia, so we got him surgery to repair it. While Bear was under anesthetic,… read more >>
Tequila
Sadly, one of the three recently rescued kittens passed away peacefully due to unknown reasons. We’re grateful to her foster home for showing her love and support during her brief time. Rest in peace, little Tequila.
Marshmallow
We rescued Marshmallow from Hamilton Animal Control. Marshmallow was found on the streets by a concerned citizen who noticed that she had an injured and swollen front leg. Hamilton Animal Control picked Marshmallow up and took her to the vet. The vet could not find a any reason for her leg to be lame. There was no open wound or broken bones, so she was put on pain medication, an antibiotic and sent to HAC to wait out her stray time. Turns out, Marshmallow was microchipped. Her owner was contacted and they assured HAC staff that they were coming to claim… read more >>

Burrito
We rescued Burrito from Hamilton Animal Control. Burrito was surrendered by his owners because they were unable to handle his energetic nature. Burrito is only 10 months old, and apparently the owners who surrendered him to HAC were the second home he’s had. So many upheavals in such a short life! We had Burrito neutered and placed him into a foster home. Burrito is such a happy boy, and so sweet! But…he needs a forever home who will be willing to work with his energy and his tendency to be protective of his “people.” It takes him some time to… read more >>
Piper
We rescued Piper from Hamilton Animal Control where she ended up as a stray. Piper is sooo friendly! She loves everyone she meets and has a non-stop purr. Such a sweetie. Piper has been spayed and how she’s ready for her forever home! Here’s a note from Piper’s foster home: “Piper is one of the most affectionate cats I’ve ever fostered. To say that she loves being around people would be an understatement, as she follows me everywhere! She is a curious little girl and likes to go wherever you are going. She spends her time following me around the house,… read more >>
Stanley
We rescued Stanley from Hamilton Animal Control. He was found as a stray. Shockingly, someone had stapled Stanley’s face and ears. It is beyond our comprehension how anyone could do something as horrific as this to an innocent animal. It is truly disturbing. The Animal Control officer took Stanley to the vet where the staples were removed. Thankfully, there doesn’t seem to be too much damage and Stanley was acting fairly normally for a critter who had been through such trauma. Stanley was then sent to HAC. We picked Stanley up from the shelter and he had an appointment at… read more >>
Kitten
We rescued three kittens from Hamilton Animal Control. They were only about one week old and they were found without their mother. Thankfully we had an experienced bottle-feeding foster mom who was willing to take them in. They did really well for three weeks in their foster home, until without warning, they each passed away within a few days of each other. Sudden deaths like this are an unfortunate, and unexplainable reality when it comes to orphaned kittens. Our hearts go out to their foster mom. Rest in peace little ones.

Julia
We rescued Julia from Hamilton Animal Control. Julia was left behind in an apartment when her owner moved out unexpectedly. We’re not sure how long Julia was alone in the apartment, but the landlord surrendered Julia to HAC because her owner could not be contacted. Julia had strange lesions on her face. She looked like she had a permanent smile! She was put on medication, and after a few weeks it cleared up. Kudos to Julia’s foster family for taking such good care of her. Julia is a super friendly cat. She never stops purring and will flop and roll… read more >>
Lennox
We rescued Lennox from Hamilton Animal Control. Lennox was found as a stray, but he was already neutered, so he belonged to someone at some point. Lennox’s back end was so matted when he arrived at HAC, he had to be sent to the vet to be shaved down. Poor guy must have been in pain for a long time! He was very thin, his remaining coat was in rough shape and his teeth were horrible. Despite his obvious state of neglect, Lennox was a sweet old guy. He purred and head bonked through his whole rescue, and his first vet visit. What… read more >>
Yuki
We rescued pregnant Yuki (pronounced Yew-key) from Hamilton Animal Control. After being in her foster home for about a month, she went into what seemed to be labour, but her foster mom knew there was something wrong when there were no kittens, but a lot of blood. She rushed Yuki to the vet where an emergency C-section and spay were performed. Yuki had three babies, one of which had already passed away inside the womb. After some time at the vet, Yuki was transferred back to her foster home. Less than a week later, one of the kittens, Yoko, unfortunately… read more >>
Honey
We rescued Honey from Hamilton Animal Control. Honey’s elderly owner surrendered her to HAC because he was not able to look after her any longer. Honey was so scared in her kennel at HAC, but still so sweet, we knew we had to get her out as soon as we could. We took Honey straight to the vet for a check-up. Honey needs to lose quite a lot of weight, but she’s otherwise pretty healthy. She was so great at the vet, and wasn’t phased at all by being examined. After the vet, we took her to Empire Dogs Grooming… read more >>
Sage
We rescued Sage from Hamilton Animal Control. Sage’s owners surrendered her to HAC because she was having litter box issues. Unfortunately, Sage’s previous owners did not take her to the vet to try to diagnose the problem. Sage has been at HAC since early February. Because she has such a lovely personality, HAC staff wanted to work with Sage to see if she would use the litter box appropriately. They did a urinalyses that showed some bacteria, but nothing too out of the ordinary. After offering Sage two large litter boxes and a special urinary food, she used her litter… read more >>
Ariel
We rescued Ariel from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. What a lovely girl Ariel is! She is initially a little bit shy, but she warms up very quickly and will give you as many head bonks as you’d like! After she healed from her spay surgery, Ariel’s foster family decided she should stay forever! Yay Ariel!
Roxanne
** Roxanne finally found her forever home with amazing people! Yay Roxanne!!! ** Ladybird rescued Roxanne from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. The shelter staff noticed that Roxanne was showing signs of pain in one of her paws. Turns out, one of her nails had grown so long, it had curled around and embedded into her skin. How awful for poor Roxanne to have to endure such discomfort! HAC staff sent Roxanne to the vet where they trimmed the nail and sent her back to the shelter with pain medication. After Roxanne’s stray time was… read more >>

Squishy
We rescued Squishy and his brothers from a high-volume shelter in Quebec. They are sweet and gentle boys who love each other very much. They also like people, and are easily handled with some patience. We recommend Critter Nation cages, or a similar cage set up for rats. These cages give rats a large amount of space to move around and explore. Edgar and Squishy found their forever home together! Yay!
Sebastian
