Libby

Libby

February 11th, 2016 We rescued Libby from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. Libby is very thin, dehydrated, mostly blind, and is in desperate need of dental care. We know that she once belonged to someone since she came into HAC already spayed, declawed and microchipped. Unfortunately, the microchip company was unable to give HAC any information at all for the chip as the number comes up “invalid” on their end. Nobody came to HAC looking for Libby, so we’ll never know for sure who she belongs to or why she ended up a stray. We…   read more >>

Momo

Momo

We rescued Momo from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. Though he was a happy and sweet old guy, Momo had many health issues that our vets advised would not get any better. Since he had settled in nicely at with his foster mom, it was decided Momo should stay in his foster home as a permanent resident, as he wasn’t a candidate for adoption. He lived eight wonderful months being spoiled and loved his foster mom, until his age and health issues became too much for his little body and the sad decision was made to…   read more >>

Wendel

Wendel

We rescued Dougie and Wendel from Hamilton Animal Control where they ended up after their owner passed away. We took them straight from HAC to the vet where they were health checked (all good!) and neutered. They’re now settled in at their foster home and ready for their forever home. The stress of their owner passing away and then ending up at the shelter has brought these sweet boys even closer to each other. Though we don’t know for sure if they are brothers, Dougie and Wendel have a strong bond, so we are asking they be adopted as a pair….   read more >>

Cosette

Cosette

Ladybird rescued Cosette from Hamilton Animal Control where she found herself as a stray. Cosette is not even a year old, and was already pregnant. Poor young girl! Unfortunately, Cosette started miscarrying her kittens the next morning after her rescue. Sadly, the kittens were not alive as they weren’t fully developed. Cosette’s foster mom rushed her to the vet where she stayed overnight to be sure everything was okay. Cosette stayed in good spirits at the vet, despite all she was going through. She was spayed the next day and then returned to her foster home where she has recovered…   read more >>

Buster

Rest in peace Buster

Lisa from Ladybird here. This is hard to do, but I’m going to write this from my perspective because I think it needs to be told that way. Today, Ladybird rescued a senior dog from Hamilton Animal Control. We named him Buster. This rescue was done a little differently, in that we agreed to rescue an animal that we hadn’t actually met in person. Normally, I’ll pop into the shelter to visit with the animal, then make arrangements for the vet visit, foster home etc. Once everything is lined up. I’ll return as soon as I can in the days…   read more >>

Six

Six

We rescued Six from Hamilton Animal Control where she ended up as a stray. Animal Control received a call that a puppy had been hit by a car near Highway Six. They picked her up and took her straight to the vet where it was discovered she had a broken jaw and a fractured skull. She was still playful and acting pretty normal for a dog who had been through such trauma, so the prognosis was good for a quick recovery after surgery. Six had surgery the next day to repair the jaw and our vets advised that there was nothing…   read more >>

Pipa

Pipa

Pipa and Kate came into Hamilton Animal Control as strays back in October. They’re very shy girls so they needed a foster home that specializes in handling and rehabilitating semi-feral cats. Just that type of foster home finally opened up at Ladybird, and we were happy to rescue these two lovely girls. Pipa and Kate can be picked up and patted, but they’re fearful. Our wonderful foster mom is doing her best to help them come around. We’re excited to help these two learn that nobody is going to cause them harm, and we’re happy to help them along on their…   read more >>

Coconut

Coconut

We rescued Coconut from Hamilton Animal Control where he ended up as a stray. Coconut is such a sweet and social kitty…we can’t imagine how someone wouldn’t come looking for him if he was truly a stray. Coconut wasn’t neutered, so he may have been a breeder’s cast-off and was abandoned by them when he was no longer useful for breeding. We’ll never know for sure… Either way, we were happy to have Coconut in our care. We had him neutered and shaved down (he was really matted) and placed him into a foster home. Only a few weeks later,…   read more >>

Prince Harry

Harry @ Munchies

We rescued Prince Harry from Hamilton Animal Control. Poor Harry ended up at HAC when his owners could no longer care for him because of their own health issues. Harry desperately needed a grooming, so we got him one on his rescue day. (Thank you TLC Grooming!) He looked like a totally different dog! Harry went straight from the groomer to the vet. (Thank you Stone Church Animal Clinic!) At approximately 15 years old, Harry had some typical old dog lumps and bumps, but his health was pretty good overall. He could use to lose a little weight though. Harry’s…   read more >>

Buttercup

Buttercup

We rescued Buttercup from Hamilton Animal Control. Her owners signed her over to HAC because of allergies in the family. Soon after Buttercup’s arrival at HAC, it was discovered that the underside of her entire back end was one big mass of poop and the surrounding skin was urine scalded and red. Clearly, her owners were not looking after her properly before they brought her into HAC. Underneath all that poop, Buttercup’s bum and genitals were extremely red and swollen. It must have been so painful! We took Buttercup straight from HAC to the vet. She was put on two…   read more >>

Bogart

Bogart

We rescued Bogart from Hamilton Animal Control where he found himself as a stray. He was already neutered, so at one time he belonged to someone, but nobody ever came looking for him when he ended up at HAC. Bogart was very thin and his coat wasn’t in the best condition. He had a couple of vet visits, and his foster home did a great job of getting some weight on him.  Blood tests came back normal, and our vets gave us the go-ahead to make him available for adoption! Bogart is a real purr monster! Such a sweetie this…   read more >>
