Tuck
* Tuck has been adopted by his foster family! Yay! * Tuck was found as a stray and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. The folks who found him mentioned that he had been attacked by a dog, but thankfully Tuck didn’t have any noticeable injuries, aside from a very cloudy eye. HAS staff sent Tuck to the vet and it turns out the eye issue is an old injury, and the eye would need to be removed. As this was beyond the shelter’s cost restrictions, they reached out to us for help. We were happy to take Tuck in, and… read more >>

* Quincy has been adopted by lovely people! Yay! * Quincy was surrendered to Hamilton Animal Services by his owners after he scratched a family member. The details surrounding the scratching incident are very vague. When a foster home opened up, we were happy to get Quincy out of the shelter and into the vet. Quincy was neutered, microchipped, blood tested (FIV/FeLV negative) and given a clean bill of health. After being in his foster home for a short time, Quincy had a bit of a setback with a bout of illness (feeling lethargic and not eating), but even after… read more >>

Potato
* Potato found his forever home with a wonderful family, and other pigs to be friends with! Yay! * Potato came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. Yay! * We received this message from Kingston Humane Society: “44 rats were dumped in a recycling bin on a local trail in a small creek. Seven of them drowned, but we managed to catch and save the 37 remaining. Looking for help to place them.” How could we say no? Shady is one of the six rats we were able to take in from this group. Billie
* Billie and Finneas found their forever home with a lovely family! Yippee! * Finneas and Billie were purchased from a pet store, but it was discovered not too long afterward that a family member was severely allergic, so their owners surrendered the pigs to Hamilton Animal Services. The pet store told the owners that the guinea pigs were both males, but when HAS staff did an exam, it was discovered that they are male and female. This frequent misgendering of animals is yet another reason we always say “Don’t shop. Adopt!” We were able to take in Finneas and Billie and place… read more >>
