Dixie update! Our vets have advised that Dixie’s leg should be removed. Muscle atrophy, and the open wear marks that are susceptible to infection mean that the best thing for Dixie is to amputate her leg. She mostly walks with the leg held up now, so she should adjust quite easily to the change. Her surgery is scheduled for January when she’ll be old enough to be spayed at the same time. The estimated cost of just the leg removal is around $800. So…we have until mid January to raise that much money! If you visit Canada Helps through our website, you’ll see a special designation for donations to go toward her surgery. Please help us help Dixie! She’s so sweet and her foster home has nothing but good things to say about her personality. She really deserves to find a forever home when she’s all fixed up, and you can help us do that.
