Ladybird is one of the charities of choice for this years’ Hamilton Cocktail Showcase!
Come enjoy some tasty cocktails and help Ladybird win money!
Big thanks to Will Howden for picking Ladybird as his charity if he wins the competition!
What are the basics?
A dozen competitors, a dozen spirits, a dozen charities.
JNC and Beam Suntory are bringing back the Cocktail Showcase for the fifth year, this April 26th. The Showcase will run from 7:00pm to midnight, at The Cotton Factory, 270 Sherman Avenue North, Hamilton.
Early-bird tickets are available for purchase now.
Competitors qualified through two preliminary events, held at Lake Road and Serve Ping Pong Restaurants over the past six months.
Who is competing in the Cocktail Showcase?
The 12 competitors in the 2016 finals are:
1 Nick Incretolli – 2015 People’s Choice Winner – Freelance
2 Jillian Taylor – Hambrgr
3 Aaron Male – Miss Things
4 Rob Male – Lake Road
5 Matthieu Rachman – East Thirty Six
6 Mara Connacher – Freelance
7 Marian Walsh – Two Black Sheep
8 Jon Rome – The Mule
9 Daniel Kupi – Ye Olde Squire (Upper James)
10 Will Howden – Freelance
11 Tyler Della-Nebbia – Lake Road
12 Amanda McCormick – Jack Astor’s (Eastgate)
How does the night work?
Each bartender will make a cocktail with their sponsored spirit, which they will be assigned by a draw format March 29th. This will allow them a little under one month to develop and perfect their cocktail and its story, before the Showcase finale.
There are two categories for the evening: Judge’s Choice, where a panel of judges will score each cocktail based on flavour, presentation, technique and execution, and the top score will win $500 cash. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will go to the charity of choice of the participant.
The second, People’s Choice, also awards $500 cash, and a portion to the charity of choice, but is based on the votes of the general public on the 26th. In 2015 over 300 people attended the finals. In 2015, over $2,700.00 was raised for local charities including South Coast Special Needs Kids, The Hamilton-Wentworth Alzheimer’s Society and SACHA Hamilton.
How much are tickets and where do I buy them?
Advance tickets for the Showcase are “early-bird” priced at $25.00 per person. Each ticket gets you three cocktails, with $5.00 drinks for the rest of the evening. Tickets may be purchased at One Duke and Lake Road Restaurant. After April 16th, tickets will be $35.00.
