Our Featured Cat…
This beautiful girl came to us last winter and we’re shocked that she hasn’t been adopted yet. Only four years old, Sammy is a healthy cat who is full of love and purrs. Visit our website to find out more about Sammy. She might just be the perfect fit for your family!
Papion has been adopted!
Papion found herself alone after her owner passed away. The shelter was no place for this senior girl, so we brought her to live with one of our loving foster families before putting her up for adoption. Papion is a friendly, energetic gal and it took her no time to charm her way into everyone’s heart. Even though she is approximately 11 years old, she has the pep of a young pup! She was quickly adopted by a wonderful couple and has now happily made herself at home. Congratulations Papion!
Our Featured ‘little guy’…
This little man made the long journey from Laval Quebec to Hamilton Ontario, thanks to the amazing T.E.A.M Dog Rescue volunteer drivers. Alvin is a friendly, curious and energetic chinchilla. Due to some unfortunate conditioning from his previous owners, Alvin is now trying to break a few bad habits with the help of his current foster home. Nothing this special guy can’t tackle, though! To find out the details of Alvin’s journey, please visit this page.
We have a new website!
Ladybird has launched a brand new website! Thanks to co-founder Janine Stoll and her mad web design skills we have one impressive looking Ladybird website. There’s lots to explore, so please take some time to wander through our new pages. Learn more about the Ladybirds, our history, our available animals and find out how you can get involved in our community. You can also link to our Facebook, Twitter andInstagram pages, which are always being updated with our latest news and rescues. A special shout out to one of our amazing volunteers, Kathy Hamelin, who helped us with hours of data input to get the site up and running.
What does it mean to be a Ladybird?
Along with our new website, we are also launching our Ladybird Membership Program. We know that it takes a village to truly make a difference in the lives of these animals, so we are rounding up all of our good hearted friends to help us on our mission! Check out our membership page and find out how you can become a Ladybird.
Our Ladybird Supporter of the Month!
Sarah has helped us with several Ladybird events. She is so lovely to have around that we keep inviting her back! Thankfully she is eager to help out. This month we’d like to say a big Ladybird thank you to Sarah for bringing her joy and commitment to Ladybird. In her own words…
“I feel so lucky to be one of the many dedicated volunteers involved with Ladybird Animal Sanctuary! It’s a rare and wonderful opportunity to be a part of something that is doing so much good and has so much promise for the future. In the few years I have been associated with Ladybird, I have seen it grow in many wonderful ways, and it’s great to hear more and more people talking about the cause! I know that these women will continue to accomplish so much more in the years to come, and I am honoured to be able to help with that in any way possible.”
Melissa’s Word…
A lot can happen in one year. Our Ladybird, Janine Stoll, was almost 9 months pregnant at this time last summer. Lisa and myself were on standby to join Janine and her husband in the delivery room for the birth of their first child. Today their beautiful son is an almost one-year-old, standing on his own two feet, smiling and giggling. And now I find myself almost nine months pregnant! This time last year, this little being growing inside me was merely a twinkle in my eye. I think about what the next year may bring and although I know it will be all about baby for me, there are some exciting possibilities on the horizon for Ladybird.
Us three gals have been kicking around an idea to launch a crowd funding campaign to help us raise money for our ultimate dream of opening a physical sanctuary farm. Sprawling land with beautiful structures to house our rescue cats, dogs, farm animals and smaller animals is a dream we’ve been fostering right from the start. Up until this point it has seemed impossibly far out of reach.
The last three years as a registered charity we’ve had the opportunity to learn and grow by incredible leaps and bounds. We’ve taken on the world of animal rescue, fundraising and charity management with the gumption that we could actually make this work.. and we did! Today we feel ready to take Ladybird to the next level and our vision is BIG!
We will soon be announcing our Indiegogo campaign and we hope that you will get on board. Help us spread the word, donate what you can and maybe if everyone gives a little we can make huge things happen. Perhaps this time next year my one-year-old will be helping to feed the chickens and cats and welcoming guests to the Ladybird Animal Sanctuary Farm!
