Petunia
We had to let our sweet Petunia go. She had been doing great until a few days ago when she stopped eating and just wasn’t her normal, happy self. Tests at the vet showed that her kidneys were failing. The vet sent Petunia home with medications to help with nausea, and keep her comfortable.
Not too much later, it was clear that Petunia was nearing the end, and we had to let her go.
Our hearts are broken for Petunia and her foster mom, but we’re thankful Petunia spent her last days in a home surrounded by love, instead of alone in a shelter.
Rest in peace Petunia. We’ll never forget your sweet and gentle face…
Petunia was found as a stray and brought to Hamilton Animal Services. No owner came forward to claim her. Petunia’s list of issues was extensive. She’s got mobility problems, she had an infection in both ears, a urinary infection, overgrown nails, rotten teeth, she’s overweight, and she has lots of “old dog” lumps and bumps. Despite all this, Petunia is as sweet as can be. She has a tail wag and happy smile for everyone she meets
We were happy to rescue Petunia when a foster home opened up. She saw the vet just after her rescue, and she was given medication to clear up the ear and urinary infections. The vet wants her to lose a few pounds before we put a plan in place to deal with her other issues. She’s done great so far and has lost a couple of excess pounds. She’s a happy, happy dog and her foster mom says she fit right in at her home with her other dogs. One of whom is Ladybird adoption alumni, Mary Jane!
