Austin
Austin came into Hamilton Animal Services as a stray. He was not putting any weight on his back leg, but was still a friendly boy with shelter staff. We rescued Austin from HAS and took him straight to the vet. Our vets did a thorough exam and xrays of Austin’s leg, and it turned out to be an old break that had healed. The break likely happened when Austin was a kitten. Austin wasn’t in any pain, and had complete mobility, aside from a bit of a limp. Our vets neutered Austin and he was transferred to his foster home.
We sent Austin to a specialist vet to see if there was anything else we could discover about the break and if there was any treatment he may require. The specialist said Austin may develop arthritis later in life, but he didn’t need any treatment or surgery. Great news!
Not long after the specialist appointment, family members of Austin’s foster mom let her know that they were interested in adopting him, and we were more than happy to oblige!
Congrats on your forever home Austin! We’re so happy for you!
